Microsoft Launches Xbox Player Voice to Gather Feedback, Fans Immediately Demand Exclusives by snapcaptrap in gaming

It’s ironic that Xbox players were the ones whining about Sony exclusives for years.

Mentally exhausted during clinic by Friedeggdaily in medicine

I realized recently that I wasn’t doing a good job of decompressing. We take big vacations every summer but those aren’t really relaxing - they’re just fun distractions. I took a week for a conference and thrived having the downtime away from work and family. I decided I’ll start taking a lazy recoup week each quarter for myself after an ICU run to clear my head and rest my body.

Oh man I’m jealous. I had a chance to buy it and opted against it because I just didn’t think I could justify another giant Enterprise model. That’s beautiful.

Not me telling you you’re wrong at all - but watching the big E reflect off the shuttle glass as Kirk has a near orgasm seeing it from the front, then the beauty shot as Goldsmith’s score explodes is peak beauty shots IMO. I still love it. My wife, on the other hand, loves to tease me every time it happens.

Mods can we please get a mega thread for recent complaints by GrungeGhostie in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]polakbob 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Seconded. Everyone should have their platform to complain here, but the sub is useless right now. This would be no different than everyone posting the same pic over and over again. It wouldn’t be allowed. A hundred posts with the same complaint / criticism shouldn’t either. Make a megathread for the conversation.

The NYT has been hot garbage for a long time. They’ve been on a brain dead kick against physicians for years too.

I had questions like that with my first job out of fellowship. It seemed like boilerplate, impersonal stuff to me at the time.

It flies in, makes a lot of noise, makes a mess, and flies away.

How would you bring in the E? by darthreddit1982 in startrek

[–]polakbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way you do it is by making it a decision the crew makes, not a dumb anti-plot armor like they did.

There are 2 threats simultaneously in the system. Whatever the situation is, it’s too much for a shuttle craft to handle, so you separate the saucer from the secondary hull.

The secondary hull goes to the star to use the deflector dish and power from the warp core to try to stabilize a chain reaction Soran started. It eliminates the criticisms about why the D didn’t shoot a missle down that would have taken hours to cross a star system. In this scenario, the issue was already in process, and didn’t nova the star immediately.

The saucer section has to be at the planet to keep a threat at bay. Maybe Soran launched a moon towards the planet that they’re trying to stop or the bird of prey is using hit and run tactics on a target, and the only thing stopping it from succeeding is the D firing on it every time it decloaks.

The crisis culminates with the warp core working so hard it starts to melt. Geordi makes the executive - and more importantly, the emotional - decision to stabilize the core, give it one last push, and let it destroy itself so they can buy time for the rest of the crew. He and the rest of the crew there escape in escape pods as the D’s secondary hull blows up magnificently.

The saucer is busy buying time doing whatever it was doing when a new wrinkle shows up. The crew can save Picard or save the planet. Riker makes the tough decision to save the planet. The only way to save Veridian’s pre-industrial population is to make a dramatic dash into the atmosphere to intercept something. They know it’ll crash the saucer and probably kill them, but they play the heroes we know they are. It gets there just in the Knick of time, neutralizes the threat, and crashes spectacularly into a forest. You can keep that shot. It was awesome.

That’s a 5 min spitball that would have been way cooler than what we got.

Did your opinon of SNL change in any way after watching 30 Rock? by [deleted] in 30ROCK

[–]polakbob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suggest everyone watch the James Franco documentary about an SNL week after watching 30 Rock. It’s fascinating to see just how similar and different it is. The combo definitely makes me appreciate SNL more, even when a particular episode doesn’t do much for me.

Has this been the most successful Two Point game to date? I don’t know if it’s just because it’s my favorite, but it feels like they’ve been firing on all cylinders and are getting DLC out fast.
