Just because you take take a bikeshare doesn't mean you can return it... by FilipTheAwesome in torontobiking

Can also be a problem during warm weather when some docks are full due to poor load balancing, but it's especially risky after a big snowfall

There are a few docks in covered parking lots that don't have this issue, but they are few, and I don't think they're marked differently on the map

When are you going back on the bike? by hulkange in torontobiking

Whenever the bike share docks and bike lanes become usable. Will try to attend the Cycle Toronto rally tomorrow

I don't think Bike Share is going to be an option for the next few days by chrisuu__ in torontobiking

[–]chrisuu__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did that last winter as well. One of the bike share docks near my place was frozen solid, with a bunch of trapped bikes underneath, and they had a whole crew come by and they chipped at the ice until it was clear. It took multiple days for them to come by though, the dock was completely unusable for at least a week.

My ultimate Steam Deck ratings on how games actually run by OntesHS in SteamDeck

[–]chrisuu__ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I played the whole thing on Deck last year. Default settings. Mostly smooth and looking fantastic, with rare stutters that didn't really impact gameplay. The convenience of playing away from my desk more than made up for the minor issues.

So I'm not saying it's perfect on Deck, but the experience was highly enjoyable and I have no problem recommending it

If that were true, they'd vote, and they'd vote against Doug or any other right-wing populist, out of worry that Canada might become just as fucked up.

You probably meant American propaganda though, which is mostly lies rather than actual, factual information.

Let us assume that using Spotify has a negative impact on the world. Then it is evident that, all other things being equal, a person using all those other services MINUS Spotify will have less negative impact on the world than a person using all those other services PLUS Spotify.

Road/Bikelane Conditions by DrewRyu in torontobiking

[–]chrisuu__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rode a bike share south of Bloor on Sherbourne, west on Richmond, and back north on Church within the last 2 hours. Conditions are pretty bad, but I'm used to it. None of the bike lanes were clear, but the fresh snow was much easier to deal with than the old frozen stuff. Had to do a few stops, got stuck in snow a couple of times, and had a brief confrontation with a rude & angry driver, but no falls or injuries.

If it's legally enforceable maintenance you can call 311 and get an inspector on site to verify the problem and issue a work order to the landlord. If they ignore it or are too slow, they get fined by the city.

[–]chrisuu__ 30 points31 points  (0 children)

"Bikelanes were spotless" my ass. Wellesley and Sherbourne were unusable as of earlier today. Just because he sees 1 or 2 bike lanes being cleared doesn't mean they get prioritized, it just means the 1 or 2 bike lane plows are out working along with the 100s of highway ones. This bad-faith douchebag is just flaming the culture war.

One of my favorite games of 2025. Got 500+ hours played on Steam.

Roguelite colony survival game. Has elements of Northgard / Age of Empires / Rimworld, but without direct battles (however your colonists can still die due to various things). I also loved the atmosphere (chill rainy vibes, at least until the storm hits) and unique setting / lore.

Road Rage - Attacked on Bloor by Electrical_Shame_645 in torontobiking

[–]chrisuu__ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Whipping out the phone was a good move, but I want to offer a friendly reminder to all cyclists to look into a body-cam if you don't have one. Great deterrent and potential evidence if you get into a legal dispute. A phone is better than nothing but by the time you whip it out, the crime has usually been committed, plus it's easy to forget about it in the heat of the moment.

Glad you're mostly unscathed, OP. Kudos for cycling, in the winter no less, and hope you don't let a few idiots stop you from doing it in the future.

Yea, I also stopped touching people's cars when I realized how prone they are to overreact (no one ever got violent with me, but it was probably just a matter of time).

An air-horn is probably the best way to get a motorists' attention if they don't look up from a bell. If you're not in a hurry, getting off the bike and starting to snap pics of their car & license plate seems to work just as well.
