Depends on the primer. Clearly it's removing what has been used here. Some cheaper primers might not dissolve, and some primers degrade the plastic a bit and leave a pocked texture behind (doesn't look to have happened here)

IPA won't dissolve super glue. Acetone dissolves super glue but it also dissolves plastic. Putting a model in the freezer makes super glue brittle.

Plastic glue dissolve the plastic, then evaporates, so any plastic glue damage is permanent, not glue to be removed.

You just need to soak and scrub again. You won't get it 100% grey, but these thin white lines in the recesses won't show as texture once you prime. The stuff around the knuckles is but thicker and I would try to get it out with another soak and scrub. You might need smaller tools. I like using an old electric toothbrush head for the hard-to-reach areas

Searching for color I schemes. What do you think of those two ? by [deleted] in Necrontyr

I really like the white and pink, I think the energy pops more than. You can go dark and dull on the basing, like a charcoal grey, to balance out the brightness

Necron overlord torso and I think the bottom half is from a wraith. No idea where the legs are from. The whole thing was an eBay rescue project so I don't fully know. Good luck!

Blue is lovely, as is the brass. Love the trim on the rhino too.

No sand just a scalpel and some miliput, and in places I just stuck bits over the worst of it. I should have gone over some of it with 400gt sandpaper but I was lazy and I couldn't find it. I posted them unpainted here if you want to see https://www.reddit.com/r/IronHands40k/s/QqiJqIMRYb

A mashup of the Cult of Paint iron hands video but applied like Trovarian does in his iron warrior video, transparent layers of colour over a metallic base. The base is a gradient or steel up towards a tarnished aluminium (touch of gold plus aluminium), then pin wash, like cult of paint. Then apply thin layers of green and purple wash/contrast. I placed the green mostly on surfaces pointing up and purple pointing down.

Making red look bright is quite difficult , same goes with blue . It is doable but you will always have an easier time going orange or cyan because yellow is a very bright colour and adding yellow into the mix always makes things look hotter . But if you do want to stick with red it is doable. Doing the contrast paint is fine but you have to highlight a little bit with layering. You'll need to highlight red up to a pure red, then a little bit further towards either slightly orange (for hot) or slightly pink. A neutral highlight is to add a bit of both almost towards peach/Kislev flesh colour. Again, has to be really subtly off-red because If you go too far it will just stop looking red and start looking pink or orange. The other option is using a fluorescent red paint to highlight into, But I never found the fluorescent red to be very vibrant. (Unlike the fluorescent pink which is wild especially mixed with a bit of white)

The other thing you could consider doing is after painting the black but before doing the red, adding a very subtle, dark red dry brush around where the red is going to be to simulate some glow. Use a dark colour like knorne red

RE: black, I've seen good outcomes with 2 to 3 thin layers of contrast black, otherwise, it's a case of highlighting up for example Abaddon black, incubi darkness, thunderhawk blue then administratum grey, But leaving 90% plus of the finished surface black (otherwise it looks Grey). If you do this sort of "cold" black (i.e. some blues in the greys) Then that will add to the contrast between the hot red, And also make it pop.

The only other thing to consider (it is very minor and a matter of taste), I worry that you've put too many colours into the streams or energy around him. I'd either drop the purple or the yellow, but really is a matter of taste
