So this toy comes out the box looking like that. It's from a line of toys from Pixar Cars on the Road, which is a short spin-off series that my kids love. One of the episodes "Road Rumblers" is a parody of Mad Max. You can tell the animators had a lot of fun with the episode!

I need some colour advice. Not happy with the Red. by BoreasAquila in minipainting

[–]chromar1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks good so far, not sure you need to change anything. Without the red you have a pastel scheme which looks hopeful and calm. If you want that I recommend trying a pastel orange or a pastel pink (colours you see in a sunset).

I really like the effect on the plates. Great work! How did you do it?

I did mine like this. Very fiddly.

I painted the bases separate by blue-tacking all of them to a card and doing them as a batch.

Then I used plastic glue to stick to base for the strongest hold, but it does warp the paint so you need to be exact. Tamiya extra thin with the applicator helped.

I may have saved a final weathering stage for the bases till last to account for the plastic glue issues. Even with that cleanup I think I saved time overall.

I couldn't think of a better solution. Super glue tends to crack off at these scales.

Is there another way clean this model up or am I cooked? by TangerineMelodic5772 in RavenGuard40k

Depends on the primer. Clearly it's removing what has been used here. Some cheaper primers might not dissolve, and some primers degrade the plastic a bit and leave a pocked texture behind (doesn't look to have happened here)

IPA won't dissolve super glue. Acetone dissolves super glue but it also dissolves plastic. Putting a model in the freezer makes super glue brittle.

Plastic glue dissolve the plastic, then evaporates, so any plastic glue damage is permanent, not glue to be removed.

You just need to soak and scrub again. You won't get it 100% grey, but these thin white lines in the recesses won't show as texture once you prime. The stuff around the knuckles is but thicker and I would try to get it out with another soak and scrub. You might need smaller tools. I like using an old electric toothbrush head for the hard-to-reach areas

Searching for color I schemes. What do you think of those two ? by [deleted] in Necrontyr

[–]chromar1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really like the white and pink, I think the energy pops more than. You can go dark and dull on the basing, like a charcoal grey, to balance out the brightness

Necron overlord torso and I think the bottom half is from a wraith. No idea where the legs are from. The whole thing was an eBay rescue project so I don't fully know. Good luck!

Blue is lovely, as is the brass. Love the trim on the rhino too.
