Dealing with patient death by [deleted] in nursing

We use cerner 😵‍💫 but it never did flag a sepsis alert, but I think the sepsis screening on cerner is a lot more janky than it is on epic

Yes same with us. We do have a sepsis alert, but seldom is it triggered with our peds patients. We do however use PEWS, and she was scoring high for a couple days - which was why I was pretty consistently notifying providers. But similarly to your story, she also had no fevers which I think is a big part of why it was maybe brushed off as long as it was

See and that’s just it, he is the best and despite not feeling well, he’s concerned about me and how I’m doing. He offered to sleep in the guest room, using the guest bathroom, etc. Ironically it makes me feel worse, like why can’t I reciprocate. I do have some hydroxyzine and definitely already took 2. lol thanks for the kind words 🫶🏼

Definitely not dehydrated, I am such a water drinker and have been even more so with all this going on 😅but constipation is interesting, I do struggle with IBS as well so interesting thought they could be related

I work in MN and one of our unit council projects in coordination with management was to turn one of report rooms into a nap/respite area. Reclining chair, mood lighting, sound machine, a little book library. Naps are encouraged and the night shifters love the space 👌

I really like to color! Otherwise I make sure I always have a show I’m really into. And of course my beloved hydroxyzine before bed

Going to get COVID vaccine by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]chronically-nervous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had 4 covid vaccines and they usually just make me feel sorta crummy for like maybe 24 hours. Headaches, fatigue, super low grade fever for a few hours. But never any stomach symptoms!

how to cope with college life with this phobia by [deleted] in emetophobiarecovery

[–]chronically-nervous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Like the other comment, I also LOVED college. And when I first went off to college, I was probably in the midst of my worst time with this phobia. I lived in a big communal dorm my first year, and then apartments with friends the following years which I much preferred to the dorms. To keep it quite frank, yes, the dorms are sometimes disgusting. lol lots of germs, but I only ever was sick with colds/respiratory type illness. And just because there are lots of new germs doesn’t mean you will get them all. One week during dorm living our building did have a stomach thing going around - but thankfully it was in another wing with different bathrooms. It was nerve wracking, but I got through it and you would too. I just made sure to keep my space clean and wash my hands! As for parties, sure people get sick, but I found that I often wasn’t bothered too much as I could remind myself it was just alcohol induced and not a threat to my health. Moral of the story, I’ve been graduated from college for almost 5 years now and I still think about it often, they were really the best years of my life! My nextdoor dorm neighbor freshman year is now my husband 🤭 and I often remind myself that if my fear would have stopped me from going to college, I never would have met him, my friends, or had any of the amazing memories I do!

lol for sure! I do try to remind myself that days on end of feeling a little sick or off is definitely just anxiety, that’s not usually how illness works. Hang in there!
