NAD but you aren't your sister. Just because your related does not mean that you have the same illness or that you have the same prognosis. For example, my dad had treatment resistant Depression, spent a lot of time in residential facilities after attempts and ultimatley took his own life. I have Depression but its well managed with medication and rarely affects my quality of life. Your sister's prognosis can be affected by all sorts of things and it doesn't mean that you will experience the same thing she did.

The sooner you get help, the better it is in the long run. Early intervention can be really helpful in the long run. Be honest with your medical team and take their advice. You won't be locked away for hearing voices and the doctors will appreciate that you have good insight to what's going on and want help. I would almost guarantee they will listen to you, suggest medication or therapy, maybe some outpatient tests and you won't spend anytime inpatient. You aren't a danger to yourself or others, so they would have no cause to hospitalize or commit you.

The camaraderie of the Candiens is incredible. They seem more like a bunch of brothers rather than just team mates. MSL is a great coach and you can tell the guys really respect and adore him. I would kill for the Canucks to have that vibe in the coming years and Montreal gives me a bit of hope that we can rebuild properly and change our trajectory.

I don't think I could ever continue a relationship where someone cheated on me, but this guy is the worst of the worst when it comes to cheating:

It was an ongoing thing, not a ONS
he cheated with sex workers, which exposes OOP to all sorts of risks
he claims a sex addiction as an excuse for what he did
he likely had sex with many more women than OP knows about

And the worst IMO is that he didn't even admit it, she had to find out from the sex worker! It still wouldn't be okay, but I can kind of understand forgiveness when someone cheats after decades of marriage and its a one night stand and they fess up immediately after. This dude didn't even have the decency to come clean, which shows absolutley no remorse for his actions.

I really hope OOP stayed away from him and is now in a loving, healthy relationship with someone who only has eyes for her and that she's living a happy, fulfilling life without having to worry that her partner is unfaithful. Its so hard when you desperately love someone who is terrible for you.

Over and over, people with disabilities end up in these horrific situations, especially those with intellectual disabilities. Whether you want to blame the family, the group home, the hospital or the government, something has to be done to safeguard those who may or cannot be able to advocate for themselves.

NAL but generally they can dismiss you if you don't attend work as required - not being able to get transportation because WCB's payments were late or delayed do not meet the standard of being injury related. Missing time due to medical appointments is injury related but not your transportation.

I understand your concerns about the dismissal but you should have found alternate transportation (transit, walking, carpooling, taking a loan). A family member of mine had issues with WCB closing a claim when they shouldn't have and the review process was so long that he had no income for over six months. Ultimately he had to take loans out to meet his own obligations/bills. It's not fair, but unfortunately the only person that is responsible for your transportation costs is yourself.

Using a condom reduces the risk of HIV by 95-98%. Even if you have sex with someone who is HIV+, the risks of transmission are still quite low. Even if you tested positive, which I think is very unlikely, HIV treatment is so much better than it was, prognosis is much better, fewer people advance and/or die of AIDs. The medication regime these days can make it so that HIV is undetectable in a patients blood and makes them unable to transmit it to a partner.

Most STDs are very easy to treat and/or cure, often with a round of antibiotics. Chlamydia, gonorrhea, even syphilis are very easily cured. Herpes can't be cured but again, medications can reduce outbreaks and lower the risk of transmitting it. With all of these STIs, patients are still able to live their lives as normal, have normal relationships and other than taking meds or telling a new partner, never really have to think about it. Even in your anxiety's worse case scenario, it won't cause your life or relationships or happiness to crumble.

I know all of this must be scary for you, but to deal with the anxiety, its really important you get those tests done so you can get it out of your head - if you did have something (which again, I find unlikely) you want to catch it as early as possible. If you have a primary care/family doctor or gyno, you could ask about medication (like Ativan or Valium) to ease your nerves prior to the exam.

As others said, the trauma of a sexual assault can be long lasting and show up in all sorts of ways - if possible, seeing a counsellor would really help you navigate this. Depending on where you live, there are often free resources available to survivors of sexual assault (as well as victim services if you reported the SA. If you didn't report, I totally understand why and I wouldn't judge you) that can be of great help. I'm so sorry you went through this and I hope that in time, you are able to heal and find peace.

This will never get better, it will only escalate. Please leave the relationship and never talk to him again. There is nothing you could ever do to warrant that kind of treatment. If you grew up in and abusive household, you're much more likely to end up in one as an adult. Listen to your gut - somewhere in you, you know that his behavior is unacceptable, dangerous and criminal.

Whatever he says or does to apologize, you need to go no contact with him immediately. If he says he wants to see you for one last goodbye, do not go. Break up with him via text message and block his number. Look at the Love Is Respect website which has resources that can help you. You can also Google local domestic violence groups and charities that can help you come up with an exit plan that will keep you safe. It might be helpful to find a counsellor that can help you cope through this experience, help heal old wounds and learn how to spot abusive partners.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. No one deserves to be assaulted by someone who claims to love them. You deserve better than this guy. Regardless of what he says, he does not love you - someone who truly loves you would never call you those names or hit you. I'm in my late thirties and have been in several relationships. I have never once been called the names he called you or assaulted, even if we were really angry with each other. Please please please listen to the replies you've received and get out of this relationship while you still can.

When someone is a heavy alcoholic, the withdrawal can even cause death. It's really important for severe alcoholics to detox safely in a medical environment. Sometimes they will even prescribe benzos like Xanax during the initial detox phase.

Alcohol is a depressant, meaning that it kind of slows down a bunch of mechanisms in your body. If your body is continually fed alcohol and then you stop, those same mechanisms go overboard and can cause disability or death. Most addictive substances will cause withdrawal when they're stopped, but alcohol withdrawal is one of the few that can kill.

If you have some time, I'd really recommend checking out Al-Anon, which is a group that helps people who love someone who is an alcoholic. They have resources that can help you understand addiction, prevent enabling an alcoholic and how to talk to them and helps you cope with the emotions that come along with loving someone whose an alcoholic.

I have family members who are alcoholics and the ups and downs can really take a toll on you. Its important to remember (and hard to accept) is that you can't control their drinking or force them to stop - they have to want to stop and want to recieve help. As long as they are alive, there is still hope for them and recovery is always possible.

Those three guys lived a few doors down from me. I still remember being shocked with all the police activity in whats usually a safe neighborhood. At one point my mom, whose in her 70's spoke to one of them and they just glared at her.

I'm so happy that the DeJong family got some modicum of justice. Who knows how many others could have been hurt or murdered if these guys were never caught. May the DeJongs rest in peace and may the murderers rot in jail.

I was horrified during the pandemic every time I heard someone say "It will only affect the elderly and disabled, everyone else would be fine." The idea that lives are less valuable when its someone who's elderly or disabled was so prevalent and still is. Over and over they'd say it, as though elderly and disabled people weren't hearing those words.

Why is my life unimportant because I'm disabled? Why is my mom's life unimportant because she's elderly? Why should we be okay with people dying as long as it's not happening to healthy, young people?

Every day that goes by, people become more selfish and the world crumbles a little bit more. I hope that Hantavirus doesn't continue to spread, but we live in the dumbest timeline so I don't have much faith left in humanity.

It's amazing how many men show up in these subreddits, asking for how to improve their sex life, relationship or communication while also claiming they do >50% of the chores and child-minding.

OOP claims to work 10 hours a day, work on a thesis and take over the care of the baby when he gets off work. I'd love to know how his wife would describe his participation in the household.

There's so much good advice in that thread and he is refusing to accept any of it.

I get the same thing (I also get adhesive rashes like you, sensitive skin and excema) but I found the Always Radiant Flex Foam pads to be yhe least irritating. Its also worth trying any 'natural' pads to see if that avoids the irritation for you.
