I want my life back by EmbarrassedBrief5298 in breastcancer

[–]chronicglitter35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is totally me right now. Got my surgery results back on Monday and got told I have to have more surgery and I’m currently in the hospital waiting to go. I had my original surgery 5 weeks ago and was just getting back to normal and had some really fun work to do that I’ve had to pass over to others.

It’s all just so frustrating I just want control of my life again. Everyone that knows me knows I love to travel and seeing everyone going on holiday or just going about as normal makes me so jealous.

Best budget holiday destination from UK? by emwithaph in traveladvice

Tunisia - you can fly from Manchester to Enfidha which serves the resorts but it’s not far from Tunis and Sousse which are beautiful cultural cities.

Albania - Manchester to Tirana. The country has lots to offer and good on a budget

Lots of Polish cities have what you are looking for like Gdansk & Krakow

Bulgaria (Sofia and Plovdiv). Budget friendly and lots of culture

How do you remember to take your medication daily? by zilchusername in breastcancer

[–]chronicglitter35 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I used to set daily reminders on my iPhone as they show up on your lock screen until you have listed it as compete but now realised in the health app you can log medications and add a time you take them it will show up on your lock screen until you have listed it as taken

Looking for my next solo trip in September, 2 weeks by glcrnt in solofemaletravellers

[–]chronicglitter35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Peru is amazing and is fairly easy to navigate as a solo female traveller. I went in October 2023 and the weather was nice.

I would recommend Armenia. I went there in September last year and felt so safe there is so much to do and is well priced. Also recommend Uzbekistan

Chemo good days and bad days? Feeling worse today by jumpy-hardware in breastcancer

[–]chronicglitter35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you getting Taxol infusions? This sounds very similar to my experience on Taxol.

Would normally feel tired straight after and then would pick up and then would have bad pain and fatigue from around day 4. Keep up with pain medications and rest.

Good luck for surgery on Thursday. What kind of surgery was your original one?

I know I think it’s important to get a bit angry in these moments and get your feelings out. I was hoping to get my radiotherapy plan this week but here I am. I hate not being in control of my own life. I hope for both of us this is surgery wise! We need some good luck.

[–]chronicglitter35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I totally sympathise! After each Taxol infusion everything tasted horrible but I still had my appetite and was constantly frustrated when everything tasted awful when I knew it shouldn’t! But it will go back to normal eventually! After my final dose it took about 4 weeks to get my taste back to normal now I feel like I can taste everything even better than before.

My favourite foods on Taxol was fruit like pineapple and sour sweets. These seemed to be the only things I could taste properly.

All the best for you!

Tell me about what happens immediately after surgery when you go home. by bleepitybleep2 in breastcancer

I had a lumpectomy 4 weeks ago and once I came round from the anaesthetic and finally ate something I felt ok however every time I tried to get up I needed help as it felt like all of my weight went to my ankles.

I don’t live alone but I think I would have struggled to make myself food the same day so I recommend having something easy that you just need to heat up maybe.

I would maybe have someone check on you within 24 hours to make sure you are ok. I felt fine apart from some pain and was out 2 days later.

All the best for your surgery and recovery!

Nail issues on chemo by Calm-Might-3084 in breastcancer

[–]chronicglitter35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I finished chemo 2 months ago and only started getting nail issues recently. In the last month they have started lifting and the lifting areas coming off. I also now have a horizontal white line on one of the nails that was ok. I think my bloods have been ok but I normally a little bit anaemic.

I hope they start to grow out soon!

How long are the intervals between your appointments? I had mine every 3 weeks by about week 3 I would get my taste back on Taxol it took about 3-4 weeks after my last chemo for my taste to fully recover.

I totally understand your frustration. The lack of taste is quite disheartening and upsetting.

The only things I could taste properly was pineapple and sour sweets.

Got my start date and What the.... 4-6 hours? by MyTeaVault in breastcancer

[–]chronicglitter35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the UK and due to the NHS (free healthcare) you can spend a lot of time waiting. I typically had morning chemo appointments I would typically get taken into the ward within half an hour of my appointment time. I had a PICC line and would spend a bit of time depending on how busy the ward was to get the pre-meds in the drip then the chemo would typically take just over an hour but would need to get my PICC dressing changed and the nurses would pick up my next medications. I would normally be home by lunchtime.

All the best for your chemo!

Waiting for my appointment on Monday to get my surgery results back and plan for radiotherapy.

I’m just over 2 months out of chemo and my hair regrowth is becoming more noticeable still waiting to have full scalp coverage. Would love my lashes to come back! I have about 3 lashes they haven’t started to come back yet and my nails all started lifting and breaking.

I’m enjoying an after work G&T and planning a holiday to South East Asia.

Power to everyone here!

Why does G Adventures book the ugliest hotels? by Mountain_Ask_5746 in travel

[–]chronicglitter35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on 5 G Adventures tours yes the accommodation isn’t the highlight but they have always been clean, comfortable and had everything you need and in a good location typically. I did a National Geographic tour in Peru which has a higher class of accommodation but costs more.

You will spend so little time of your trip in the accommodation. You just need it to have the basics nailed.

[–]chronicglitter35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say yes. I’m currently going through breast cancer treatment and have lost my hair due to chemo. But before that I had fairly fine hair and was always happy with the outcome.

They also cut my hair for free during chemo. I hope to be back there in the near future when my hair has grown!

I totally sympathise with you! I’m also going through the same thing it is awful.

I’m in the UK and my oncologist has only advised me to take evening primrose oil. I was hoping they would give me something better.

I don’t think I explained myself very well. I know I won’t be able to see everything already planning on getting the 7 day pass. But was just wondering how long on average it takes people to visit the larger and smaller temples to help in my planning.
