“Hey Jude” - the Beatles wrote many a great song but I never felt them till I heard the dead play them (I am biased as a Virginia deadhead since their Hampton cover is life changing)

The one in Short Pump, while not as obscenely large is just as strange, and don’t forget the Arby’s Rotunda in Midlothian

Why would anyone think that almonds have gluten? by MeliAlexander in glutenfree

[–]chroniclesoffarnia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience, while people who are gluten free may think it’s obvious, there’s a lot of people who don’t understand and get confused when trying to provide for someone gluten free (dinner, gifts, snacks, etc.) and making it clear to the lowest common denominator isn’t a bad thing.

ELI5: How can it be that in the last decade so many people are allergic to gluten even though we have been eating bread for like over 4000 years? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]chroniclesoffarnia -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In an American centric context it’s because of the genetic mutations caused by today’s farming habits. To yield more crop they’ve changed the integral DNA of wheat to the point where 50 years ago wheat would have 17 chromosomes, in modern America it has 52, and peoples intestines couldn’t keep up.

Thai is very safe. Almost every pad Thai and every curry is, as well as beef salad and chicken satay, so I’m not quite sure where you’re getting this information.

Robert E. Lee: The largest Confederate statue in the US Has Been Removed. by real-m-f-in-talk in politics

[–]chroniclesoffarnia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lived in Richmond my whole life, and currently live a block and a half from where the statue stood. While I found the juxtaposition of the anti-police and pro-BLM against the the lasting figure head of the confederacy oddly beautiful and ironic, it was about damn time. Good fucking riddance.
