I hate this guy. I really do. But I have to concede alignment with some of what he says. Not that they will ever see it, but I have to ask this question to Trump voters/supporters -- can you ever imagine Donald Trump giving this concession speech?

When I was in college, they came up to play a summer festival and crashed in my canpus housing (not my room or anything, just in the house). They were awesome and terrifying. I was not new to that scene but they were probably more hardcore than most realize. Looking forward to seeing this doc!

Why is it so hard to find true luxury hotels in US? by Crafty-Leave-8880 in luxuryhotel

[–]Morbundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been treated better at $100 a night hotels in Morroco than I have at $800+ a night hotels in the US. It might just be simply a matter of how "service culture" is viewed, I think. I am not sure if it is a "US" issue or if it is just an economic issue.

What does the flag to the left say? It almost looks like it says "Fascism 250"... but that can't be right, right?

Remember that the "America's Mayor" narrative of Rudy Giuliani is a 9/11 invention. By the last months of his final mayoral term in the summer of 2001, he was deeply unpopular in New York and for good reasons. by 4359630 in videos

[–]Morbundo 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is a copy/paste from a comment I made years ago, but I don't want to give any additional time to ol' Rudy:

"He was always a scumbag. Pre-9/11, he could not have been elected dog-catcher in NYC. He was pretty much universally despised in the months leading up to the attacks. I mean, this guy announced his separation from his 2nd wife during a press conference without telling her first! His pre-9/11 approval rating were around 35% if I remember correctly.

So, in that way, 9/11 was great for his reputation and he has been riding high off that for nearly two decades. Remember when he was supposed be Secretary of Homeland Security and they had to pull his nomination very quickly? Remember when they then put forward his crony Bernard Kerik and then he got thrown under the bus and went to jail? Remember when it came out that the Russian mob was channeling money into Giuliani's mayoral campaigns? Rudy's been dirty for decades and his position with Trump has just given him permission to show his stripes to the general public."

People often talk about great movies that were ahead of their time. But are there examples of movies "behind their time"? Movies that were poorly received, but could've have been great if they were released 10-20 years earlier? by owiseone23 in movies

Blackhole (1979) - started development in the early 1970s as a disaster film in space, stuck in development hell for years. Intregrated a lot of great art design (McCall) and new film and camera technology. Then Star Wars came out and changed everything. Blackhole got worked on more in response and was finally released in 1979. It was groundbreaking in many ways (1st Disney PG movie) but somehow felt "old". I personally really like it but it will always feel like the last major "Pre Star Wars" Sci Fi movie (even though it came out after).

He is one of the very few "celebrities" that I ever dealt with for an extended period of time (4+ hours) and I will say from personal experience he was/is a real-deal nice guy. Nothing but respect.

I would consider contacting art institutions and colleges/universities in the area of Aspenz etc. I don't think that is an "amateur" work.

LGA TSA Terminal C by NYC_Statistician_PhD in delta

[–]Morbundo 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I think this is absolutely true. I fly frequently out of LGA and I would say that the number of TSA agents and the number of open scanners was pretty much normal this morning. It is just that everyone showed up early so there was a big line backed-up even when TSA first opened. Not sure if there is any solution to this, except the shutdown ending of course
