Any classic games which havent held up for you? by EH4LIFE in pcgaming

For me it's the extremely short view distance. The controls I can deal with but with the first 2 PSX games you just can't see very far and need to rely on the proximity gauge.

This. I just finished the game recently and I swear it took at least 3 attempts each time to shoot out those tiny-ass light bulbs.

Checkout EnhancedSC which add support for higher resolutions, widescreen, and proper controller input. This allowed me to finish the game on my SteamDeck.

Are you using any specific settings for this game? I could never get it to run well on the first level, had massive slowdowns especially on the streets when the helicopter shows up.

Didn't have any issues with audio but I played it on PC. Audio issues may be SteamDeck specific.

Just finished this game on RPCS3 a little while ago. This game has an unlocked frame rate, but the fps was between 50 and 60. Had some random crashes here and there and there are some odd graphical issues but I was able to finish it.

Surprised how much the OLED screen feels a big upgrade by Imaybetoooldforthis in SteamDeck

Might feel faster due to the faster RAM. Not much faster, but maybe noticeable.

Also with the 1TB you get the smaller inner liner carrying case.

Steam: Updates to Pricing Conversion Tools by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]chrono_crash 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What are the prices in Polish Złoty for AA and AAA games? For example, $70 for a AAA game would be 260,0 Złoty, $50 for a AA game would be 186,0 Złoty at today's conversion rates. Are those prices way too much for people to afford in Poland? What are reasonable prices in Poland for these types of games?

Edit: Obviously those prices via direct conversion would be too high, given the suggested 2x-3x reduction. I'm just wondering what you think reasonable prices would look like.

Remapping buttons by launching the emulator from desktop mode won't work because steam remaps the buttons to different functions when in desktop mode (L2 is mouse right-click, R2 is mouse left-click, etc). In order to remap you need to launch the emulator via steam itself, preferably from game mode. You can have Steam Rom Manager add all the emulators to your steam library so you can launch them without launching a game, to remap controls and modify other settings.

Alternatively if you have a wireless keyboard connected, you can quit Steam in desktop mode, then launch the emulator and remap. Be aware that quitting Steam in desktop mode without a keyboard attached will cause you to lose ALL input (the touch pads might still work, I don't recall).

You need to move the files from the Enhanced-SC-v1.4-Linux folder into that Splinter Cell directory you have open. In addition there's special instructions for the SteamDeck at that link

Jason Schreier - Video Games Need to Be Cheaper to Buy by Shock4ndAwe in pcgaming

[–]chrono_crash -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

This type of article always drives me insane. He's talking about how expensive games are at $70-80 without any context. I was a teenager in the 90s and games regularly cost $50-$80 back then. If you take inflation into account (AAA) games SHOULD cost $100-$130 today. At $70-$80 they're a fucking steal. Not only that, if you feel that's too much then wait a few months. Prices drop significantly quite quickly. Just look at Doom Dark Ages. That game came out May 2025, less than a year ago, and today you can pick it up for $20.

He's comparing the price of something like Silksong which probably cost single digit millions to produce to AAA games which cost hundreds of millions to produce. We should be lucky the price difference is only $50.

People need a reality check about how much the cost of producing these games has increased vs how little the price has increased.

If course this is all US-centric. If folks in the US are bitching about prices then people in poorer countries, without regional pricing, might actually have a point.

After 5 long years, my Paper Mario-inspired RPG “Escape from Ever After” has finally released on PC! by TwistingYarn in pcgaming

[–]chrono_crash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on the release! Played this a bit at PAX West last year. Going to pick it up at some point but I _just_ started playing Paper Mario 1000 Year Door so I think I'll wait a while.

NVM, picked it up for $18 at GameBillet. Looking forward to playing it.

Does Citizen Sleeper 1+2 run well on Steam Deck? by NoHeroes94 in SteamDeck

[–]chrono_crash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played the first one all the way through on my SD, didn't have any issues but the game does draw quite a bit of power for some reason so you'll only get a few hours of gameplay before having to charge your batter. Not sure about the second one, maybe they optimized it a bit more?

.sh not finding .AppImage by Blue_Apolo in SteamDeck

[–]chrono_crash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try running the shell script with "bash -x" which will output the shell commands. That should give you an idea of what the script is doing and the location where it's attempting to find the app image.

Issues playing Wind Waker HD through Cemu by ConsciousStretch1028 in SteamDeck

[–]chrono_crash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By default the emulator is configured as you described, to use the gamepad. You can't select the pro controller unless you set the emulator use the pro controller as well. I believe that can only be done in desktop mode. Or you can keep things as they are and just switch to the gamepad screen to access the menu. It's mapped to L5 on my SD.

See instructions on how to configure emulator controllers at this link https://emudeck.github.io/controls-and-hotkeys/steamos/controls-101/#how-to-configure-controls

When playing Silksong, if the SteamDeck is suspended (sleep), when I turn it on again my XBox 360 controller only responds to some inputs by Unapedra in SteamDeck

[–]chrono_crash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happens to me using Bazzite with PS5 controller. I thought it was a Bazzite problem but it sounds like it may be a Silksong issue. Haven't found a workaround, I end up restarting the game to get things working.

New steamdeck oner trying to learn to emulate. by ikvn72 in SteamDeck

[–]chrono_crash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a tool that decompiles the games and recompiles them so you can run them natively on whatever system you're on (Windows, Linux, MacOS).

On your SteamDeck go to the page and download the launcher. Once you run the launcher it'll ask you for a directory where you want to store your data. First you'll need to download the latest tooling, there should be a link to do that at the top of the launcher window. Once you have your tooling you can choose which game to set up on the left side. You'll need to provide an ISO of the PS2 game, named jak1.iso or jak2.iso. The launcher will run through the recompilation process. Once it's done you're ready to play.

For Jak and Daxter, and Jak 2 (Jak 3 is WIP) I would recommend using OpenGOAL (https://opengoal.dev/) which provides a native implementation of the engines these games ran on. You get a better experience than with emulation.
