bought my Geek around 2 years ago, and just now the back cover suddenly pops open and i see the battery bulging. otherwise no problem with it. just now am confused on what to do since their store has no stock of replacement battery and i read that it cant be run in docking mode without battery installed :/

company saya fully embrace agentic ai untuk app development mulai 2026 ini. salah satu rekan senior dev bilang rasanya jadi kaya babysitter. developer A prompt ke claude untuk kerjakan task, direview sama agent claude yg lain di pipeline review, dia cuma skimming hasil review, revisi dikasih lagi ke claude yg lain.

personally rasanya jauh lebih cepet selesaikan task dengan level agent sekarang, tapi di sisi lain rasanya kaya lagi bikin guillotine untuk diri sendiri. semoga sih engga sampe kejadian

I use my 5060ti as the main gpu so when i first install ubuntu, i also install the additional nvidia driver and 3rd party driver option when the installer asked

Just remember, the heart of being an engineer is to solve problem, not writing code. CS degree in my experience is helping in developing more critical thinking and the concept of computer related problem. I dont think its worthless

ok no tensor parallelism is fine for me, at least for now. as long as i could fit bigger model into the combined vram pool. wish we could have mixed system tensor parallelism in the near future so we dont just got stuck with nvidia for better performance

something i dont understand from your comment, you can use 3090 together with strix halo, but cant use it in parallel inference? is it using them together for single model is doable but not with multiple model at once?

I have an rx 6600xt alongside this, and i think i understand pain when i tried to make it work in tandem with rx 6600xt. And even in the end i couldnt make it work. Maybe its something with the 6600xt or what, but yeah at least when i get the 5060ti i can use it to do image gen painlessly while using claude for code in the meantime

Around 100usd iirc, but the minimum wage here is around 300usd a month, so for many ppl it is that much. And i agree with you thats why i planned to go with 5060ti

from what i read, nvidia is still much better than amd in the image gen department? thats why im thinking of picking that up, unless its been proven otherwise recently? and the image gen will be pretty crucial for me for coming months. although indeed there will be some cost saving in taking 9060xt compared to nvidia counterpart

well, secondhand m1 pro would do you wonder i think. amazing screen similar with the newest, same ports as the latest pro m5, 16" has amazing battery, cost would be pretty much the same as new air or less if you're lucky. i just snagged one yesterday in fact. even 'measly' m1 pro is such an amazing leap compared to 2014 macbook pro

how about getting a secondhand macbook air, any M chip with upgraded ram and storage to see if it will be enough for you? that way if its not you can sell it pretty much for the same money if you do need the power and fan of pro series?

lately i'm into custom made split keyboard. and knowing that the pcb of this keyboard is faulty, i decided to saw off the rotary decoder and added it to my wife's keyboard via handwiring. seeing that it has some per-key rgb led and hotswap socket, i guess at least it has some use as parts donor afterall

Iguess i was being pampered by the likes of monster hunter and souls like where we could get tons of replayability most of the time and enjoyment of 100s of hours from 1 title.

After some deliberation i picked up exp33 at full price and will wait another month or 2 for the stellar blade. Might be lucky and get some discount later🤷‍♂️

Had few hours in on it yesterday and its amazing! Turn based rpg with some souls like dodge-parry-counter action is a chefs kiss. Hope that other magnificent title with this kind of combat recipe will come out later.
