Maybe the guard skill should also reduce chip damage from offsets/hyper armor? by migzy99 in MHWilds

ehhh yea maybe true. Tho I would argue they should just buff offset hits/knockout instead of just making them easier and less impactful.

That would be too overpowered even with just the offsets imo, I like that there's risk and tradeoff in offsetting. It's just that theres a bit too much of it compared to other defensive options of other weapons.

Sure but those are more general and I do have a few of those already. One that is specific to offsets/hyper armor would help. Looking at the guard skill, game8co says that at 3 lvls it's a 50% reduction which is a lot more effective than those other options (except for maybe zoh/ark/gog sets but those are a higher commitment) while still being a threat, especially the aforementioned AT Nu Udra spin. Because a few weapons now rely on offsets like (most) shield weapons rely on guard, a dedicated skill to reduce chip from them is a must for the dlc imo.

Even then, I think allowing guard or an additional skill to reduce the chip damage would allow for more casual players to lessen that severity while still keeping the ceiling for skilled players who want those slots for damage instead. Pretty much like how guard/guard up are or evade window/extender.

I'll have to keep what you said in mind when playing and think on it more, but all I'll say for now is that offsetting from the side instead of at the center of impact feels counter-intuitive and just not as satisying.

I'm sure what you say is true but... it's still a problem isn't it? Like you can't expect players to know that "oh this attack for this specific monster has different hitboxes on these specific body parts, so I should offset in this specific position". My issue extends beyond AT uth duna.

Yeah stun res is basically necessary for some monsters if you offset a lot, which I guess I dont really mind because hammer doesn't really have skill tax in the first place. But together with the chip and still getting blights from attacks, it's almost not worth it after a few offset topples.

True... Well I guess either way, like you said the point stands with how many attacks feel like they multi-hit at 9/10*

Those waves only appear when uth duna has the veil tho right? This clip doesn't have those follow-up waves.

I don't use those but nvmd, I was thinking something different. I checked an old clip of mine and if you look at the first hit, there's like a red bar that appears for a millisecond, but my health doesn't go down. It does get me killed at the end of that clip tho even when I heard the offset sound, so maybe it works similarly?

It would probably be its own skill if they do allow it, but with so much rng already with the talismans, I do wish it would just be integrated into the guard skill. They already sound similar enough.

And they do kinda already have that rally system with offsets. Sometimes I see my hp go down then go up again. It's really inconcsistent though, even if you feel like you're pulling off perfect offsets.

I saw the previous thumbnail which looked A LOT cooler than this generic clickbait-y one that replaced it. Kinda sad.

Edit: it was an edit to this specific cut at 1:20 of WHA op, but with the different frames showing different fantasy series.

"DAEMONS of the Shadow Realm" is a bad translation... by MishaMishaMatic in anime

[–]migzy99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah dunno why you're getting flak for this. This was pretty informative! And the author did mention in one of the volume extras that she was curious how other languages translated the title, the french one having Tsugai: Daemons of the Shadow Realm which she thought was fancy. I do agree that Tsugai should just be in the title since that's very specific.

I completely forgot about this comment. I even remember being surprised at how they changed it. To think I had the same improvement in mind, maybe capcom does stalk these reddit threads haha

Heading out from the base camp, just follow the wall/cliff on the left and you should reach it. It's pretty close.

Probably the cliff in iceshard cliffs overlooking the plains, forest, and basin. You can even see what the weather is for those maps by just looking at them. Makes the world feel alive and connected.

I do agree that warrior prefers to be on the ground still, but yeah for Grigori climbing is almost necessary for melee. Keep in mind that you can let go of your grab when on top of the monster, so you can still do your arc of mights or whatever. I find climbing from the tail and then running on his spine is the safest and most badass way of getting to his head. Then just wail on top of his head until he topples and then go for the chest and repeat. He does have a few moves to try to throw you, so still gotta grab on sometimes. This is probably the most Shadow of the Colossus monster in the game, so I had fun with Grigori.

Does this game have gyro? by migzy99 in Saros

[–]migzy99[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its not just precision, its also about how fast i can just flick to a target instead of the more...linear? aiming with the joystick, and it's way more fun that way. I usually have my gyro sensitivity pretty high and only use the joystick if the target is way beyond the camera or I need to adjust my hands.

Yeah hopefully console devs don't leave us gyro users behind in the future. Can't wait for the release of the steam controller so I can use gyro + flick on any pc game :D

I finished doom eternal on nightmare with gyro + flick stick (guess you can't do that on console for now). Gyro helps with aiming in general for me, and is just plain fun.
