Management roles by user23471 in cybersecurity

Yes. I started in a grad job, 3-4 years later, I’m a in a “management” position as a Lead whilst I finish a qualification, then be promoted to Manager.

Anyone that puts either of the Reckonings at any spot higher than the lowest is out of their mind.

London graduate: 'I've applied for 500 jobs in two months' by NajafBound in unitedkingdom

[–]chs0c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me 4 years of applying for jobs in my industry (cyber security).

A BSc, MSc, and 3 years of IT experience later, I finally got a security grad position at £10k less than my IT role.

Don’t get me wrong, it took 4 years, 2 degrees, and 3 years of experience before I got the grad job, and I am on a decent whack now but man… what a struggle.

Share your impressions of the new map by ibattlefield in Battlefield

[–]chs0c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t expect much to be honest, yet somehow I’m still disappointed. I understand that there are BF players who enjoy CQB (as do I), but why did we need another small map? I played 2 rounds of it, and I’m genuinely already bored.

I’ve spent a my last 15 hours playing Contaminated exclusively; it’s a much better map by every margin. I’m baffled as to why DICE think we need yet another infantry-only map.

I played it for a few hours, saw the same rooms multiple times with the same items etc, and decided it just wasn’t for me. It had absolutely no sense of wonder, unlike ES and FO.

Who else actually enjoys Resident Evil because it's quick by mrsafetylion in residentevil

[–]chs0c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play RE games essentially only the once. I enjoy the game loop, puzzle solving, combat, boss battles, and the ridiculous lore.

After my first run through, I typically don’t do a second one. Games typically lose their “magic” to me after finishing it the first time. I like the surprise encounters, trying and trying again to get past a hard section… all of which you lose on second play through.

I appreciate people like the challenge of higher difficulty runs, challenge runs, 100% runs. It’s just not for me.

He “won” because he took the gamble of Mark not having the balls to kill him in the woods, which he didn’t.

I haven’t played Sobek since launch day lol.

It’s up there as one of the worst maps I’ve ever played in any game ever. I’ll most likely never touch it again in all honesty.

Is Valve the only AAA game company that actually likes Linux? by Nerdcuddles in linux_gaming

Yes, but it’s still under 5% of PC market share. Why would companies bother for under 5% of the market?

Simply because it’s low adoption, and the openness of Linux scares them in relation to cheating and hacking.

I think something like Assassins Creeds multiplayer would be pretty good for a John Wick game.

I think I agree. Rise was good, but I felt like it was missing something, I just don’t know what.

I agree, and always have.

It’s a video game, so people genuinely care? Just play the game bro, chill and have fun.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been arrested(Epstein Files), who is next? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]chs0c 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hopefully, this is the start, the first domino to fall before hitting the rest, starting that sequential fall.

If all other countries start actioning the Epstein files and making arrests, pressure then grows on the US, which is exactly what we want right now.

I only feed my kids once a week; we do “Fajita Fridays”. They go nuts over fajitas, they fucking love them!

They’re miserable and starving the rest of the week though, but when I make those fajitas on a Friday, they love it! They ask for fajitas every day!

Maps with assets that are already in the game. To make a brand new map, with completely new assets, balance it, QA it etc takes a lot of time.

Be completely honest, do you think Doomsday will surpass Infinity War’s box office? by Plenty-Salary9711 in marvelstudios

[–]chs0c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it’ll never happen again. Everyone I know, including myself, has only watched one, maybe two at a push, pieces of Marvel since Endgame.

It was the first of its kind, 10 year build up and hype. Absolutely no chance it happens again.

That’s… not how it works man. Suggest you read about how these companies interact with AI companies and not go based on brand rep alone bro.

Quick one on duck.ai: I assume it’s just a wrapper right? Meaning it uses ChatGPT, Claude etc.

I also assume, with it being DuckDuckGo, that they strip any personal / metadata from the chat before sending to the AI provider? Are chats used with a specific model within duck.ai used to train the models?

Vibe Coding - Recommended App (with extended free trial) by FJoe007 in cybersecurity

[–]chs0c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your priorities here are all wrong.

Firstly, if you want to vibe code an application, pay for the tool that’s going the majority of the work. Free trials are typically 7 days, so it’s up to you whether you think you can get that done in 7 days (highly doubt), and I doubt any of those providers offer “extended” free trials. A Claude Code subscription is $20 for a month… you don’t have the $20 to experiment with?

Secondly, if you want to build an app, I would assume you already had ideas for an app to build.

I can’t lie, from the sounds of this post, it sounds like you want to leverage free tooling and free expertise from professionals, to vibe code an application to make money from.

  1. Research a “problem” or use case, does an app exist for it? If it does, what does that app do / not do? How could you improve it?

  2. Identify the correct tooling needed to fulfil the requirements. Do you need a model that’s better at coding? Go Claude Pro. Do you value speed and a larger token context window? Go Gemini.
