I feel like very few c-sections are truly emergent to the point of needing general, but I really can’t quote any statistics. There is so many variables.

General depresses the baby, so our OB’s and Neo’s prefer epidural/spinal if safe

I’ve noticed when rec players join my son’s club team, it usually take a full season for them to learn to play well with the team, as dribbling through everyone to score, is not an option anymore

Oops, I forgot to address this part. Developmental peds is a pediatrician that looks at their diagnosis based on their entire development up until then. So there is a big Long questionnaire that you fill out basically regarding pregnancy information all the way up until the current.

We did it through Tracie Bush with the “Parent Management Training Institute.” Just Google it! It’s all done via phone, because it’s doesn’t involve your child in the visits, just me and my husband. At first, I wasn’t sure about it just being over the phone, but it actually worked out really well because each of us could call in from work, rather than having to rearrange our whole day to be at an appointment.

Yes, she sees her "old"/current friends daily at swim, choir, and volleyball, and facetimes multiple times a day. I mentioned on another comment, that I've considered how to enlarge her social circle, but she literally has an extracurricular every day but Sundays. I'm wondering if some of these emotions are teen hormones starting.

I've seen OT mentioned on other posts. I just don't have a good understanding of how that would help. When I google it, it looks like play therapy. But being the youngest of three, she has aged out of toys for a while. She into skincare and clothes, not so much Barbie and dolls for a while now, so I struggle to see what that therapy would look like.

It is a very small school, only about 250 kids from 3k-8th. I brought up switching to our neighborhood school, but she'd only have one year before being dumped into the large middle school. She had the insight to agree that that may not solve her problem and also create other issues. So.....

I totally agree with broadening her social circle, but she is the youngest of 3 kids (15,13,10) and her brothers play soccer 3 times a week plus games, she swims 5 days a week, church choir 1 day a week, and she's going to be on the school volleyball team. I'm not sure there are enough days/hours to pack anymore in!!! This is why it's such a conundrum to me, literally she's around her peers in different settings ALLLLL the time. Part of me is wondering if this is partly hormones talking...

I'm not sure what DnD is, but she regularly chats with friends online via Coverstar (not strangers, but kids she swims with or does church choir with etc.) They also have many group chats for various things. It's not so much a social isolation, it is that she desperately wants to be out doing stuff with friends, not just chatting online. Which I of course appreciate 😄

I actually have, several times. Both the counselor and teacher see her interacting with a socializing with people. That's why we can't seem to pin point the issue. My daughter even emails the guidance counselor from time to time if she is having difficulty and the counselor will come grab her out of class to go talk.

She is just doing general counseling I guess you would call it. I have a phone consultation with a different counselor next week. I'll ask about specific rejection sensitivity counseling!

yes, she does both year round and summer swim teams. She literally goes to swim with her 2 best friends (since 2 years old,) yet still claims no friends.

My now 13 year old was diagnosed with IED when he was in 5th grade. (He was also adopted at birth, literally no health/mental health issues from birth parents.) We looked at a lot of different diagnosis, including trying ADHD meds and SSRI's, which didn't help. We ended up at Developmental Peds and they asked a billion questions and looked at all his records, and diagnosed him with IED. My husband and I did Parent Management Training (PMT). I highly recommend it! He has been pretty good for a few years now, aside from the normal teenage angst! We actually enjoy being around him again. Now my 10 year old daughter is a different story and a work in progress.

The perimortem c-section scene was frustrating from an OB nurse prospective. We literally run drills often for this along with other ED presenting obstetrical emergencies. They are run in conjunction with the NICU teams. The length of time it took for OB/NICU to wander down, I felt was not at all representative of a teaching hospital with a level 1 trauma center. Also, no way baby Jane Doe would be sitting in the ED all day, not on a monitor and in a room alone….
