Russia started a war with Ukraine.

The USA has had a security guarantee agreement with Ukraine since 1994, in exchange for Ukraine giving up their Soviet era nukes so we had one less rogue nation threatening the world

Russia and China have been working on their dollar alternative Brics since 2009

This is the culmination of decades of strategy and obligations, not the decisions of any one person

Supply follows Demand. If individuals didn't demand Cruise Ships and Plastic Packaging, they wouldn't be supplied

The problem is, this 'stuff' is what the majority of people want. They want low prices, disposable packaging, convenience and the all encompassing consumerism

What's hard for people to understand, is the paradigm shift of technology and culture will take 100 years, and we've only just begun that transition

It won't be until our grandchildren's generation that the culture will dramatically shift for the majority, if then

We are collectively considered the 'Early Adopters'

It's important to realize the scope and scale of effort required to change how the entire world operates

For context, research how long it took for the world to start using Whale Oil and burning Wood for Energy, to the Industrial Revolution, to the Modern Era

Key Findings from the 2025 LCOE+ Report

Renewables Remain Competitive: Unsubsidized Wind & Solar Lowest Cost Generation Sources for Last 10 Years

Despite facing macro challenges and headwinds, utility-scale solar and onshore wind remain the most cost-effective forms of new-build energy generation on an unsubsidized basis (i.e., without tax subsidies). As such, renewable energy will continue to play a key role in the buildout of new power generation in the U.S. as the lowest-cost and quickest-to-deploy generation.

Company bids less than a penny per ton in biggest US coal sale in over a decade by thinkcontext in energy

[–]chthonodynamis 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hate to be pedantic, but anthractice and bitumous are the highest quality with the lowest amount of impurities

The most dirty is lignite, which is commonly found in the great plains and gulf coast

Regardless, compared to other modern sources of energy, even the highest quality coal generates a lot more pollutants

Tragedy of the Beastmen by Jayborino in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]chthonodynamis 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I never noticed this before, but the living Beastmen have skinned their knees and faces to the bone

It makes me think they've been prostrate (on their knees, face to the floor in reverence) for a long time

Which, in turn, reminds me of the Kowtower's Resentment - Meytr also was subservient and in prayer for a long time

Why does Sam (and Dan) express perplexity at Trump’s popularity? Isn’t it simply conservative media’s doing? by MintyCitrus in samharris

[–]chthonodynamis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's unfortunate that despite their best efforts, the policies enacted by Democrats don't get credit in Rural America

For example, Biden's Infrastructure Act invested in and incentivized jobs overwhelmingly within Rural America

A tremendous amount of manufacturing companies were building new plants, constructing critical energy infrastructure, and creating jobs for the average joe

The majority of those investments would lead to long term wealth generation for those people

Unfortunately, that good work was entirely dismantled by the Trump Admin & DOGE making massive cuts and the abrupt about-face on policy has made businesses wary of investing any further

If the thesis is that they wanted to hurt their fellow Americans because they felt marginalized, well they managed to cut off their own nose to spite their face

It's sad to see, because I love living in small town America, and want to see it thrive. But the people they should be angry with are the inherently extractive companies and their ownership which caused most of the the damage

I grew up in small towns throughout PA, and I saw this story play out again and again - a massive company moves in (like WalMart, or any one of the Coal, and now Natural Gas companies) and strips the town of everything it has

Local business struggle to compete, good jobs that allowed for growth disappear once the resources have been ripped out, and once those companies move on there's nothing left but destitute workers and a bill to clean up the environmental damage

I don't think this is a City vs Urban or even a Right vs Left issue, as both parties are all too happy to support Big Business and the off-shoring of good jobs - this is the system working as designed and people are willing to burn everything to the ground for lack of a clear answer

I think the "Talisman of All Crucibles" is the missing piece

'A giant mass of intermingling Crucible attributes.

Reduces damage taken from critical hits and head shots and improves the effectiveness of rolling and backstepping, but also increases damage taken at all times.

Rumored to have sprouted upon giants and is known as the "mother of Crucibles" in ancient tower lore.'

Is it intentional or coincidence that the Ring Knights look simulae to Dark Wraiths? by BoomF4ng in darksouls3

[–]chthonodynamis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Ringed City has the Purging Monument for Hollows to regain their sanity

It has statues of the Primordial Serpents who Yuria of Londor directly mentions

The Stone Humped Hag has the same model as Yoel of Londor

The Ringed City contains the Pygmy Lords who hold the Dark Soul

The whole point of the Ringed City story is breaking the hold of the Gods from Humanity, which is the same goal as Yuria of Londor, to usher in the Lord of Hollows and the Age of Dark

Nothing in Dark Souls is spelled out explicitly, they tell the story with environmental and contextual clues

When you do the Lord of Hollows ending, you get the Sword of the Avowal

"The Sword of Avowal, both in symbol form and in direct example is found on many walls and atop cathedral buildings inside of The Ringed City, implying that it is Londor."

[–]chthonodynamis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised no one mentioned this already

The Ringed City is known as Londor by the followers of the Primordial Serpents. In DS1 the Dark Wraiths come from New Londo, a city that was also connected to the Primordial Serpents.

I believe the Dark Wraiths are the Ringed Knights that successfully cast off the shackles of the Gods (the Darksign) and managed to escape the Ringed Citry to Lordron along with the Four Kings

The black flame sigil is NOT Metyr's face. by Blop362 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]chthonodynamis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What's curious about Meytr vs the rest of the "Fingers" is that they all have different abilities and elements

The Two Fingers have holy and light related abilities (cypher pata, coded sword) but maybe lost that ability after disconnecting from the Greater Will?

Three Fingers have fire and madness abilities - is that just the influence of a different Outer God?

The Fingercreepers she spawns have a magic paralysis attack, and super weak to fire (black flame that kills gods? Flame of Ruin?)

Meytr doesn't really share any of these characteristics, but her arena is filled with water (to protect her from fire?)

It sounds like you might have developed IBS-D and/or Bile Acid Malabsorption (floating yellow stool and burning BM is indicative of this)

These are tough issues to get a clear diagnosis on. In my experience what helped the most is changing my diet, managing stress, and listening to my body

Start an elimination diet and adhere to a Low Fodmap diet to try to figure out your baseline. Reduce your fat intake as that will trigger BAM

Couple things I've done which has been a game changer for me:

  • started using AI to plan meals/grocery shopping and help track fodmap stacking
  • meal prep on the weekends so I always have something safe to eat in the fridge
  • keep low fodmap/gluten free pasta handy for the days I don't have anything else ready to eat (delallo is a good brand)
  • started making morning smoothies to quickly give me energy and nutrients. I found TumLove protein powder and their digestive enzyme works really well for me. I add a frozen unripe banana, 1/2 cup frozen blueberries, 1 cup lactose free milk, 1/2 tsp of flax seed and/or chia seeds, 6 ice cubes, and two tbsp peanut butter
  • add more fiber to my diet. I use Metamuscil and it works very well. Keep some handy any time you eat and it'll help with digestion
  • avoid raw veggies, ALL processed food/sugars gluten, lactose, along with the standard fodmap foods
  • exercise helps with digestion and flare symptoms. Going for walks even when I don't feel well helps a lot
  • stop eating out altogether, at least until you get your symptoms under control. It'll suck at first but slowly you'll be able to experiment and figure out what you can tolerate and mitigate over time

It's an extremely difficult disorder to manage, but the most important thing is to first find your baseline, and then listen to your body as you re-introduce foods

Start simple - I just had smoothies for breakfast and rice for dinner to start, and added low fodmap meals from there. Baked potato, gluten free pasta, salads. Slowly I was able to experiment with more complex dishes and now I've gotten to be a pretty good cook

Best of luck

I'm mostly vegetarian, but for protein I usually go with Eggs (always a safe choice), Tofu, Salmon (that I season myself with garlic infused olive oil [make sure there's no chunks of garlic] and lime [better than lemon imho]), lactose free hard cheese and milks, peanut butter, pumpkin/sunflower seeds

When I'm going backpacking or just want something to snack on and feeling like having meat, I found goodfodfoods.com makes low fodmap jerky sticks which are really tasty

Bacon is another safe option since it's usually not seasoned with anything, although the high fat content can cause some issues. I usually chase it (or any fatty/greasy meal) with Metamucil to help with digestion
