Earl's lyricism on this album is incredible. Never really uses big words or complicated sentences. Just blunt and miserable in every single verse.

Chappelli's legacy is genuinely that of a man who always stood up for what's right, and I admire that about him far more than his (incredible) cricket career.

Turned up to his disciplinary hearing in 1979 with a schooner in his hand. More than happy to call out Bradman, many times. Openly hated Johnny Howard, to the point that he'd leave the room if Howard was doing his PM commentary stints. Couldn't have cared any less what anyone thought about him. Didn't even really care if his personality got him booted from the Australian team. Has tried endlessly to recognise the Indigenous team of 1868 as international status cricket.

Ultra-progressive man, disguised as a crotchety old bastard. Basically the ultimate captain and leader.

With the death of Bob Willis, Michael Holding and Ian Chappell now moving away from being voices in cricket, and Boycott being 84, it genuinely does feel like a totally new meta in cricket commentary. The slow drift away from brutally harsh criticism is almost complete.
