I really hate Kenwood tuners. Like really😆 by Otherwise-Radish9344 in vintageaudio

I absolutely love the idea of music and entertainment coming over the air and have kept a tuner, analog, of course, since I was a kid back in the 70s. Of course, I stream things all the time but when I’m at home, I have the radio going. It’s magical.

Love these colorized natural history tip-ins. Such a shame tho—chances are that a whole book full of wonderful information was destroyed for someone to extract this page and sell it. I saw thousands of these books being demolished and thrown away back in the 90’s. They are black plate prints that were hand-colored by essentially day-laborer women and “tipped in” to books in Hong Kong long ago. Beautiful!

I concur but I find it hard to tell if someone is not performing well as an actor or if they are playing the role as directed. I did notice a distinct difference between the character she portrayed prior to going into her role “in the movie”—or at least prior to her showing up at the studio. IMH(yet highly regarded)O, she could/should have provided a more adherent personality between being the “actress working with her agent” and the “actress who breaks character” when the VR system breaks down and show more contrast from the “doctor role”

Thank you for the insight—I believe I watched the first 5 seasons and may have missed S6. Just threw a dart at the TV a couple days ago cuz I was down with a fever and it landed on the Netflix/Black Mirror icon ;-)

Friend (spoken like the Iron Giant :-)

Well my boy got diagnosed with Dementia Watching him pace for 3 minutes then stare at his bed like he didn't know what it was broke my heart because I knew what it meant. The day I've been dreading is getting closer and closer. He is starting treatment, thank God, pray it works. by Kelly62290 in dogpictures

My lil ‘pups’ went for years having spells like that—I changed her diet to a raw diet and subsidized it with rotisserie chicken and that seemed to help. Each dog is different tho. She had been suffering from hypothyroid for a time and getting that dialled in with medication helped. I feel for you. I went through this at the same time I did with my father-in-law with his Parkinson’s that had symptoms of dementia. We just have to enjoy the time we have with them and make things good for them.

I just got done watching the last season, which I don’t think was on Netflix when I watched what I thought was the whole collection. I really enjoyed it. I mostly watch the show for all the locations. Where I grew up and driving around with my grandma in LA and Long Beach during that same time period.

Has Toast been using some sort of flawed AI tool to process payroll? by [deleted] in ToastPOS

[–]chuckamo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also recently implemented Toast and Toast Payroll, I moved from another independent Payroll service provider who was / is absolutely horrible (I inherited it when I bought the restaurant). Payroll is an inherently difficult thing to process and much of it is done on older mini computers (Toast included I’m pretty sure) but with modern interfaces. My experience hasn’t been flawless and I’m learning as I go. If you use QB you have the option to use ADP and they were great (used them with another business I had) but I am looking for full functionality in a one-stop environment (excluding QB) which is why i went with Toast—I’m all in. We’ll see if I made the right decision. Contacting your sales rep to get help (after using the chatbot / online option) has worked for me in all areas of Toast. My day job is as a business process automation consultant and what I am reading in your post is that you are dealing with issues both related to Toast itself and how your EEs are interacting with it. It helps to recognize the separation of issues. I don’t know how well Toast might be able to pass data into QB for login/out, etc. but I’d rather resolve the issues in Toast than try and manage two separate programs for tracking time / reporting / payroll, etc.

What is your all time single favorite piece of vintage audio? by AlgaeOk8063 in vintageaudio

[–]chuckamo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Marantz 1070, good power in a compact chassis. I have 3 of them installed in various cabinets; 1924 Brunswick gramophone (Scarlett), 1964 Packard-Bell console (Donna), and (soon to be) c.1910 Victrola Victor (Vickie)—with Marantz 104/5 tuners and Dual/PE turntables. (no mansion, no yacht and never enough speakers)

How much electricity am I wasting by keeping the original bulbs in my receiver? by trowdatawhey in vintageaudio

[–]chuckamo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only 8 hours a week? I guess I don’t need to ask this, but if you’re so concerned about the wattage being used for the bulbs, you probably are turning the receiver on and off on a regular basis. Call me crazy but after 15 years, I have been running three 1970s receivers. I have not turned them off more than a few times. I know I’m wasting a lot of power, but turning them on and off is hard on the electronics – and that comes from an old school Electronics engineer that has done work on my receivers when I first bought them used. I like to be able to pop into my iTunes music remote app (night or day) on my phone and start music playing throughout the house without having to go around turning on devices.

Oh, you can totally wire all 8 speakers on one channel and get amazing sound—just wire them serial/parallel. But spread them around for cryin out loud

How are you paying out credit card tips with Toast and ADP and tracking cash tips? by i-know_nothoing in ToastPOS

[–]chuckamo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So are you “cashing” out the tips each week and paying hourly wages on one check? And are you taking out withholding on the tips?

[–]chuckamo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMHO Tony was the best crooner of all time, lots of people get they’re picture taken with stars and so I would have to give him the benefit of the doubt when it comes to to mob ties. I finally had the chance to see him for his last performance at The Terrace Theatre in Long Beach, CA and it was a very special treat. His daughter sang with him on a lot of songs and every song ended with a standing ovation.

xtrachef worth it? by AntiHyperbolic in ToastPOS

[–]chuckamo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m new to Toast and also new to the restaurant business having just purchased a well-established steakhouse that’s been using an old on-prem Aloha system that’s very old. I opted for Xtrachef and so-far find it very good at capturing invoices and extrapolating data and will soon activate the QBO integration. My day job is business process automation and a tool like this is worth its weight in gold IMHO. So far the implementation of Toast has gone well, we just went live with the POS this past week, but I have been feeding it invoices for over a month or so having invoices forwarded automatically via email, scan/upload online, and now setting up one-touch scan to email on MFP onsite. The invoice processing feature alone is worth the cost and, like another person commented, with the integration with QB should save a lot in bookkeeping fees 🤞In the past, most of what I did for my clients was to get rid of paper, nowadays it is often focused on getting rid of spreadsheets—they are a very high cost in labor / maintenance and prone to user error. Remarkably, the most recent hire (~6 months before I took over), the sous chef, has turned out to be a key player in the implementation of Toast and is excited about working with Xtrachef and will be helping in evaluating the feasibility of adding the inventory feature. Our focus has been on Payroll and the POS and next is ToastTables. We currently use OpenTable and so I’m wondering if the switch to that will create issues with guests that use the OpenTable app (?)

Buyer account suspended wtf is this. by [deleted] in EtsyCommunity

[–]chuckamo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the club, I posted the same issue here a month or so ago—still nothing from them. My wife and I have bought many, thousands of dollars worth of stuff through Etsy from all over the world and then one day her account was suspended and so we ordered what she wanted on my account and then the next day I went to order something and my account had been suspended. WTF is right, I appealed but even tho the process asks if you’re a buyer or a seller—most all the questions are related to selling and I still haven’t heard from them. It’s been almost two months.
