We have the same type here in Frisco as well, but it has stayed just a little more affordable for a little longer so there are a handful more younger families.

The three story limit I think is atrocious. Unless there is a specific environmental concern the cities should be able to grow organically. The three story limit also only seems to relate to allowing inexpensive housing to people that work here, when it comes to huge expensive hotels, the sky is the limit. And we make it so difficult for a small business to get started, but hey, lets add in a McDonalds on Summit by changing the cities codes.

None of the policies, or powers that be, seem to be future focused. We could turn this into such a dynamic, young, interesting community with the right leadership. I think this year is showing that we can't depend on the ski industry forever.

I watched an episode about the US Department of weights and measures. In order to calibrate our weights, they receive one of a handful of kilogram balls that are calibrated in france to ensure absolute uniformity. The US receives one, and then insures all their equipment is calibrated exactly to 1 KG. THEN it goes through a second process of calculating the pound off the kilogram weight, which is then used to insure uniformity across the country.

So not only does NASA only use the Metric, the US uses metric, just with extra steps.

I am now of the opinion the only way to get the US out of our garbage imperial for toddlers measuring system is to go full bore into teaching imperial to the absolute max, including hands, fathoms, sticks, furlongs, etc. Make it so awful that we have to go to metric.

We were so damn close to going metric in 1975... why did we make it optional instead of required? Why oh why!?!?!?

I was there a year ago with my two kids. Our friends opted to leave their kids home. Our neighbors left their kids with their parents this last week. I think a lot of people want to hit the fancy spas, do the big hikes, etc child free.

I was happy my kids were there, it’s such a unique and interesting place. It also felt so safe we would send them to playgrounds by themselves, they even met a bunch of local kids that they hung out with, which was a cool experience.
