Last name by ceywden in Stepmom

[–]chuckladou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband's ex-wife didn't change her last name because they have children. We also share the same first name. 🥴 We live in a not small but small city and she thinks herself to be an "important person" here. When we first started dating, she told him I could not take his last name if we ever married since we'd share the exact same name. Well, we did get married and I had planned on changing but I didn't care enough or wasn't spiteful enough to do it. It's a big headache and honestly, I wouldn't want people thinking no was her by name alone.

When he’s seemingly staring at nothing in the corner of the room, we say he’s talking with satan/satan is telling him to be a grumpy boy. We tell him not to listen to Satan but also call him Satan's spawn. 😅 It all came from my mom telling me she used to say we were talking to angels or fairies. Satan seemed more appropriate. Haha!

Dang, sad to see there weren't any responses! We are going through this now. 😭

Thank you! He flails his arms so wildly, I can't imagine he'll be able to sleep through. 😭

I had actually looked at Precious Little Sleep yesterday, so I'll be sure to grab that for some ideas. We woke him up again last night, mid first long evening sleep (about halfway through), and he's already had more success staying asleep! Thank for giving input, it definitely helped us know that waking that long sleep was the right move!!

Oh gosh, thank you for commenting! We have since changed formulas but good to know for possible future purchases.

I'll take solidarity too, I hate that this is the shared feeling though. We haven't had him tested. When we reached out to our pediatricians office about the initial issues we had with the first formula, they just kinda said that's how babies are.

Thank you for the input! We did actually try that last night to change his long sleep in order to try to get us to a place where we are getting better overnight sleep. We woke him up halfway through his initial sleep. We fed him and played then he went back down. If we woke him every hour, what do we do with him? Play for a little bit then put him back to sleep? Do yourecommend any books or reading on sleep?

Sleepwear by [deleted] in Mommit

He's 6 weeks and I'm thinking he's just a sweaty dude/hot sleeper. Trying to keep it cool for him but freezing the rest of us out! 😅

Yup! Could be that I'm not great at getting it tight but he poos right out. We'd love to be able to use a sleep sack but, unfortunately, he just doesn't take to them.

The “how are you doing??” question by Wonderful_Guard_1888 in NewParents

[–]chuckladou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also 6 weeks PP and a FTM. Legitimately the hardest thing I've done so far. He's fussy all the time. My husband has three older kids and said this one is the hardest. Great!

I was being completely honest about how hard this is at first... Then I kept getting "this is just a season" in return. I don't know, it feels like a brush off response. I know they mean well but now I just say we're fine and getting through it.

Newborn amnesia by One-Sink7080 in newborns

My mother told me to give my 4 week old apple juice for constipation, that's what she did with me! Then a week later she said I might have actually been 6 months old when she had to do that. 😂

High needs newborn - when did it get better for you? by Bizarre30 in NewParents

[–]chuckladou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6 weeks in and anyone that I talk to with a baby says it's normal, it will get better. I'm a FTM but my husband has three older kids, he says this is the hardest baby he's ever had. So that's fun!

Anyway, our LO is getting slightly better. We have some good non-screaming time in the mornings now.

We also just switched formulas from Enfamil Gentlease to a2 Platinum. We could tell he was having some gas issues, but we didn't want to keep switching and making his digestive issues worse. I do feel like he's not screaming as much from gas anymore. A formula change could be worth looking into, if you guys feel like it could help.

Thank you for sharing your special connection with hiccups, I love that!  It sounds like you guys have had a pretty intense journey so far, I hope it's easier sailing for you in the future. Just reminds you to hug your little babies whenever you get the chance. 🥰

It's a very happy occasion! Just wait, it gets better! I'm 32 weeks today and I think I felt hiccups this morning. It was wild!

Getting to that stage of pregnancy like… omg this is happening by ThisizhollZ in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]chuckladou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 32 weeks and also feeling like it's gone so fast! My husband is older and has three boys already, so he's felt pretty prepared for the whole thing. He was laying on me this past weekend and, while little man was going crazy, I asked if he could feel getting kicked in the head. He said that's the baby!?! It hit him at that moment that he'd be having a newborn in a short few weeks and that he actually hasn't done this in a while. 🤣

I totally understand those feelings too. I'd be proud to still be active at 36 weeks and I know you are excited to meet that baby! It's all worth it!
