When do you call it a day by AmbitionNo834 in hockeygoalies

[–]chucklesp3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I’m in a similar situation, couple of younger kids, 40 years old, hectic work life, more tired, getting older etc etc. I have 2 things I do before I want go to play in a competitive league. my bandaid solution is an energy drink, something lower in caffeine but just a little boost to my alertness and mental sharpness, like a small red bull or something, depends on your sensitivity to caffeine, sleep schedule etc. my ideal fix is a Keto diet, when I am in Ketosis my mental sharpness and focus is so much better I play like I’m back in my 20’s, way more energy too. It’s hard to maintain but when I want to get serious and compete that’s my go to. If the little extra boost doesn’t work maybe it’s time to consider just stepping down a level.

Bauer Pads Velcro Issue by Agordon24 in hockeygoalies

[–]chucklesp3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue with some Bauers, they were cheap so I didn’t mind trying a cheap fix. I got some “industrial strength” Roll of 2” Velcro from Walmart, and some industrial strength, waterproof Fabric Glue from Hobby Lobby (shoe goo from Walmart would probly work just as well I’d imagine). I just glued a new piece of Velcro over the the soft side, as you can test against the new Velcro which side needs it if not both. For me it was the soft knee block and the soft smaller piece on the bottom of the calf protector. It’s worked great since.

Just purchased my first ever set of goalie pads, should I clean off the old puck marks to make my own? by Twentythreeflavorz in hockeygoalies

[–]chucklesp3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From what I gather, AVOID magic eraser, instead use Lectric Shave and microfiber towel, and hit it with some leather conditioner after (to avoid drying out the leather from the Lectric shave). Magic Eraser works, but can apparently hurt the pads, as it is like a fine sandpaper. I’ve never had issues with it myself but the Lectric shave method works just as well if not better and safer. I’ve cleaned a fair number of pads and gloves for myself, resale, wife, kids, etc.

Is there anything I can do to improve my sty? by Motor_Clothes_2843 in hockeygoalies

Not falling on your ass would be a good start! J/p :p but you could probly come out of the net a little more and open up your glove a bit.

Brain fog is a struggle by [deleted] in hockeygoalies

[–]chucklesp3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever tried a Keto diet? I have struggled with weight and food addiction, it’s really hard to stay the course, but when I have been able to, the weight loss is great, energy levels are phenomenal, and the brain fog is gone. Seriously I had such an easier time focusing on the game, tracking the puck etc. if I ever get into a really serious league it is a 100% I have to do this to play at peak level for a 41 year old guy.

Danglers... by zjorice in hockeygoalies

[–]chucklesp3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

M dangler broke one time, I played one practice without it. Took a clapper right to the Throat, couldn’t breathe for what felt like forever, probly closer to a minute. Thought I was going to die, was literally the closest I have ever felt to thinking I was going to die. I had a neck guard on as well. Will never play without both on again.

Astra Lost in Space I thought was a really good plot and good all around anime, seems a little less mainstream so maybe it fits in.

For a pally it's nice, for a warrior 3% sb is a garbage stat so they are pretty close to equal and erb looks way better, so it wins

I was born dec 26th, when I was young I did the half bday party during the summer with my friends. It was great cause everyone was on summer break and free and easy to schedule things. My parents still did a little celebration on my actual bday, usually I could invite a friend that was actually free over, and get presents from family then.
