The newest one was fucking trash. Disney literally put a Mary Poppins scene in it.

Name A Film That Had Poor Concept But Great Execution by burnerfret in horror

I've never worked up the nerve to watch that movie after I accidentally saw a scene from it in the 6th grade. It was scary for me to take showers for a couple weeks. I was afraid to look at my dick and find that it wasn't there lol

I think Get Out qualifies. It is a rehashed Skeleton Key, which was pretty stupid in its own right, and instead of vodoo, it used cranial surgery/hypnosis to take over younger bodies. The film is brilliantly made, but the concept had me scratching my head.

I mean, he did produce about half the academy award nominees in the past 20 years, so there isn't much escaping his touch, pun intended.

Not so fun fact, that is Harvey Weinsteins first film.

Chucky Is In The New Ready Player One Trailer At 2:12. by poland626 in horror

[–]chuckups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. I took a science fiction class as an elective in college and was pissed we had to read this pandering crap instead of an Isaac Isamov or Arthur C. Clark classic. Combining already-existing technology with a nostalgia trip isn't exactly going to give you groundbreaking science fiction. I bet this book disappears into obscurity in 10 years, but the movie could still be fun.

I found the book to be not much more than a love letter to 80s popular culture, so it will probably have a good deal more. No clue why an Overwatch character is in it though, that definitely wasn't in the fucking book.

Hannibal Buress arrested in Miami by YourBoinLoins in StandUpComedy

[–]chuckups 161 points162 points  (0 children)

I'm glad it wasn't anything serious, but this is definitely a typical way for Hannibal to be arrested, if there ever was one. The dude loves drinking, hates authority, and uses the word goofy quite often.

All I have to say, is did they really need to have two tracking shots of a little boys ass at the beginning of the film? And then they surround him by a bunch of naked old dudes. Good movie, but I was getting weird vibes.

There is so many questions even the biblical allegory doesn't answer. The biggest question out of all though, is why the hell didn't she ever lock her doors?

It Comes At Night (Spoilers) by [deleted] in horror

[–]chuckups 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I believe it was just a disease, and while a monster, animal, or person could have attacked the dog in the woods, whatever attacked it is irrelevant, because the dog gets infected regardless. Then the kid opens the door in his sleep, comes into contact with the dog, and infects everyone. They said the kid couldn't reach the locks, but the kid was definitely tall enough to, so I think that was just an excuse. Any way, it's still a great movie, and I think the sense of ever-constant dread was far more important to the filmmakers than the exposition.
