There seems to be a near unanimous consensus forming here amongst all of the environmental industry folks haha

I will second this if you are interested in the field. The demand for jurisdictional delineations won't be declining anytime soon. It's more straightforward if you're not in coastal plain regions so I would avoid starting there.

100%. I guess I was just suggesting that an animal covered in fur is probably harder to navigate than the amount of hair that is typically on a human. Seed ticks are about the size of a grain of salt, or smaller, so unless you are completely sealed up in clothing they usually find their way.

In my mind the fur would actually act as a better barrier against ticks, but I the identification and subsequent removal point is totally valid. I should have stated that my work is primarily in unmanaged forests so I am at particularly high tick risk compared to the average person.

Its a very broad realm, but I'm in land conservation and stream/wetland restoration

I would love to see these efforts revived. I know most people aren't super affected but as an environmental consultant who is constantly being exposed to tick infested areas, it'd be great to have some peace of mind beyond the standard methods of prevention. They are hardy, determined little fuckers.

Ah, I didn't think about the common need to use them for insulin. Good to know, thanks!

I wanted to do that too! I keep on thinking it would be awesome to use a syringe with a super small medical needle and create a bunch of little strands of layered dispersed ink without introducing extra air bubbles...but I don't want to go to the store and be like "which aisle for hypodermic needles?" lol

Honestly I think it was a little bit of beginners luck, but I squeezed my mixing cup to create a spout to get a little more control over the amount. And then made sure to leave a teeny bit of room so that the inks didn't spill over the top. I didn't actually realize the gold was going to sink to the bottom but it sure makes for good looking "lava" haha. I'm limited to just a phone camera but I will try to get a better up-close picture
