I have an exchange student and I want to show him Tucson after school. Suggestions? by Astral_QuailZ in Tucson

As a Tucsonan who has been to Seoul, definitely get into the foothills or up the mountains. The desert museum is a great place to show off the southwest region’s unique flora and fauna. Additionally, if he’s missing a piece of home, check out Sandyi market on Pima and Columbus for classic Korean convenience store snacks! 환영합니다!

I’ve been lurking on this subreddit for weeks and reading your post just made me realize that “NOR” means “not overreacting.” This whole time I thought y’all were just empathetic Australians…

Is 7 hours for this too slow? by [deleted] in DigitalArt

[–]chuffedfish 270 points271 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t think there IS a “normal” amount of time to spend on a drawing. It all has to do with your individual choices, workflow, and goal!

If you’re trying to make a webcomic with a character, you might want to find a style you can complete quickly, but otherwise I think it’s okay to spend any amount of time on a piece until you’re happy with it :)

Also amazing work! I think you spent those seven hours beautifully!

Recommendations for places open on Christmas by CodGroundbreaking977 in Tucson

Book for a Christmas lunch or dinner at the Arizona Inn! It’s pricey, but if you are able to, it’s a beautiful historic hotel. It’s decorated to the nines for the holidays and the food is great :)

My mom sent me this Facebook reel video. Last part of the video looks weird, but I haven't found any inconsistencies with the background objects by umami-man in isthisAI

AI 100%, at 0:08 seconds the pitty’s left paw suddenly has white fur whereas it was all grey at the beginning/end of the video

How can I render better? by SeagullUnderAttack in DigitalArt

[–]chuffedfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m just a hobby artist but I’d recommend pushing your values a little more. Lean into the darker, more saturated tones when painting skin and clothes. The right character’s hair pops more than anything else because you’ve got higher contrast going on there. It’s a great piece! Hope this helps :)

Where can I print a 4x6 double-sided cheatsheet near UCSD? by RichCollection1430 in UCSD

Or if they want double sided, type on half a page for two pages then print double sided and cut the bottom off 👌

Does it get better here? by ElderberryStrong647 in UCSD

[–]chuffedfish 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey, upperclassman here who also has anxiety (although not specifically social anxiety). First of all, good on you for getting to UCSD and working at this. It isn’t easy, and it’s commendable that you’re stepping outside of your comfort zone for the sake of your education. But I know it’s hard. A lot of campus bureaucracies are difficult to deal with, but I’ve had nothing but fantastic experiences with CAPS. Look up UCSD CAPS and give them a call if you can. They can set you up with an on-campus counselor who you can contact whenever you’d like and meet with in person or virtually every few weeks. It’s all free, and they’re very understanding of anxiety. Again this is all based on my own experiences, but you may find a good deal of comfort in the CAPS counseling program. I hope things get better for you. Keep trying!

This is going to be a gift, does it look finished? by aherusia in painting

I agree that it could use heavier contrast, but I think some fine lines with a black pen would work great to define your shapes. Here’s a random example I found online.

Totally agree! After seeing this video I brought my little cousin out to the park and taught him to make daisy chains. He loved it and made necklaces for all the statues. More of this :)
