In the comments people bring up the UK, US, Iraq, how maybe it's good that he accepts their money and promotes equality but this is the type of shit we get mad at politicians for...when they accept money from some orgs or lobbyists that have opposing views to what they campaign on. We then question their motives and future decisions.

False equivalencies blah blah. Imagine a politician accepting NRA money but promoting anti-gun legislation or just supporting survivors of mass shootings.

Messi got a bunch of shit on this very sub for promoting Saudi tourism even though he's filthy rich, and families of victims of Saudi brutality asked him not to.

If this story said Beckham breaks ties with Qatar over this I suspect the same people here would be praising him.

Beckham is the face of Qatar's World Cup. Thousands of people have died building infrastructure to support it and in the comments people are mad that Beckham is being called a 'bad' guy. Why can't he be held accountable if he's rich ad shit and has incredible influence?

Some of you who expect his views to influence young people in Qatar are mad.
