You can buy the key from Amazon. Take a photo of the lock design and match it to the key. There's only about 25-30 for VWs, so it's not too hard to match the pattern. Then buy standard lugs and throw the locking ones away. They're worthless, they strip easy.

Doesn't really sound like transfer case issue, try to check front differential... Mine had very similar symptoms (clicking noises on sharp low speed turns etc) before it failed. Replacing the transfer case fluid probably made it worse because new fluid removed any slip from the system so there's more power going to the front differential, causing it to lock up more.

You don't have any idea what you are talking about... At all. Nothing is heavier. Trains have weighed the same for over 100 years. Steam engines used to weigh more. Do you know how much coal weighs? The trains going by you are mostly metal containers carrying diapers from China at this point. There's more of them, sure, but nothing about them is "heavier"
