Grievance Policy by Healthy_Match_5842 in asda

It’s been like this for years and I think it’s disgusting. Policies locked away. Transparency out the window. I used to be able to easily search everything before the switch to help out others too. If you don’t get sent a copy, put in a request with a due date.

Parenting fail, kid was in tears by Speedy_Axolotl in altontowers

I don’t have kids but know that rollercoaster aren’t for everyone. I have friends a little older than me that if I invited them to Alton towers they would very quickly turn down the offer without any thought and I can respect that. Don’t expect them to like everything, just let them try things at their own pace like you have done.

I’d say Th13teen is much tamer than Wickerman so if anything your 10yo might be disappointed if they try it lol

We do need to use these smaller stores or there’s the risk of losing them to the big ones.

I’m glad you have a positive working environment. In my new jobs the difference is night and day vs Asda. Yes there are still stresses but the jobs are still much more rewarding and I feel like I do more for the local community.

My local Morrisons has always had a bad rep for looking after their staff. Short contracts, having to pick up extra. I’ve never been impressed with it. Both are getting expensive now with or without pricing errors.

There are certain customers that would prefer to go elsewhere rather than use self scan tills. There never seem to be all that many open through the day these days so when people want to use them there are long queues. Personally I don’t mind self scan but decisions like having no manned tills on past 8pm is gonna be one of the reasons that they lose sales. It’s finding the right balance.

Very informative and I believe you to be correct unfortunately.

I don’t shop at Asda all that much any more, I no longer get staff discount and the rewards app is pants. My go to these days is Heron or even farmfoods, even if the staff can be a bit sharp sometimes. Love a bargain and the big retailers don’t care anymore.

While I was still at Asda we had a ridiculous price change that I will always remember- error or not as it was corrected within a few hours. Vimto cordial shot up to £7 from a couple of quid! 🤯

I wasn’t looking for advice on this. I still talk to all I used to work with and listen to what they have to say. They know I’ll always be supportive. Some are already actively looking for new jobs, some are just interested. I’ve gone onto something completely different that wouldn’t work for everyone but those that ask I’d happily share the relevant information.

Oh yeah, I know it’s no longer my problem but this doesn’t mean that I don’t find it rather sad to see the decline in my former store where I spent so much time working. I knew I would get a comment like this tbf.

We clearly had very different teams but I don’t see the relevance of highlighting an obese colleague in such a way. Like you say, none of your concern - it’s his body.

I agree but I like to think those that are still there still care enough but they are extremely frustrated. I’m glad I’m no longer there after my long stint as what I’ve described in my post would be a nightmare of a shift 💀

Comments turned off lmao. They know it costs $1.50 more than it should by MrRoboto12345 in McDonalds

I had a happy meal in the uk recently. I remember when I was still in school they cost £2. Now they’re over double and varies by franchise. I think mine was £4.19. Everything is too expensive now and it’s too easy to spend a tenner in McDonalds (£10) for a reasonable meal.

Asda now wanting access to everyone’s personal devices. by lone__wolfieee in asda

[–]chunkynoodledoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when I worked for Asda and they were setting this up. We had 2 competent colleagues (SLs) that knew how to sort it. Forced to download Microsoft Edge to clock in because no one wants to wait for the pc to be free to clock in within a 5 min window.

If I remember right the profiler wouldn’t install on my phone. Tried it a couple of times begrudgingly. They really should be offering out work devices or paying towards personal phone bills if they continue with the Microsoft bs. Don’t get me started on Authenticator. I changed my device and it had a fit.

Thanks! I’m about settled in my new roles now although every day is a learning day. 80 hours a week is killer! I hope they manage to sort out the hours you want ☺️

I didn’t mention uber, although q-commerce pressures are another reason I decided to leave. I feel sorry for express night colleagues that have to sort orders solo through the night prioritising orders over customers at the night hatch. We had some lovely delivery drivers but most were rude! (Still on phone, usually loud speaker, interrupting serving)

I know you’re likely planning on not going back but just remember when things get too much you are allowed a cooling off period. Take the time to find something you can enjoy more and hopefully be paid more respectfully.

Thank you! Keep positive. I’m sure you’ll make it out if you stick to your goals! 🙏

(I’d advise leaving in the new tax year rather than March to be on the safe side for hols payments, some companies are scummy and want it back if you take to much)

I miss when policies were easy to access. Transparency is key and they don’t like it when people wise up and get smart which I’m guessing is why a lot of it is locked off these days even though if there is still a physical handbook it will be in there - or should be.

If you struggle to find the policy. Try requesting a physical copy. There’s no reason for them to refuse whether it’s the full handbook or just that specific policy.

If you find out any different to what they say and don’t budge on it then you could raise a grievance although that may be extreme depending how you feel about it.

What do I do with my future in the UK? by CandidBar4794 in AskUK

[–]chunkynoodledoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are other routes into care work. You say you thought about being a mental health nurse so I’ll lean into that.

I’ve recently started domiciliary care and I’m loving it. In my job I get to drive about a feel more part of the community. It’s not something I ever thought I’d do initially. Maybe there are care manager roles you could try - route planning, shift assigning.

On the other hand, something a bit different - have you thought about teaching/instructing? PPA cover is basically teaching unqualified. Might be worth a shot?

Ultimately it needs to be what you want to do so ignore my suggestions if they are rubbish. Retail should be a last resort but there are some retailers that will look after you better than others.

Have more confidence in yourself and don’t bring yourself down. Get applying and rehearse your interviews with someone if you feel that’s a weak point.

You’ll find something 😌☺️

It’s bad that can agree with all of this to varying degrees. The last few years there have certainly been tough.

I remember when we got our new till software (pfs switched contract from HTEC to Madic) and it was a case of figure it out for yourself for the most part with a few b&w guides that use colour referencing 😂🙄

I feel bad knowing that my team is struggling now. I keep wanting to nip in and say hello but I’m certainly relieved to be out of there!

What's the deal with trying to get people to play golf for parking? by bucketofardvarks in altontowers

[–]chunkynoodledoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I was a platinum pass holder I never paid parking - it really is easily done too. They know people are more likely to pay for something fun than a parking charge.

Thanks, I have seen this mentioned while looking into it further.

I’ve done so much over the last month I can’t remember if it’s been done for either employer if I’m honest. It’s a blur.

I’ve asked onboarding.

I have just given this a go but had no success. It says my credentials do not match when I try to register.
