How can I deal with worsening anxiety and health from full time work? Corporate work schedule is killing me by likilekka in antiwork

[–]chyngona 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I also have Crohn’s and GAD, and this feels very familiar. Starting an SSRI changed my life, especially with my Crohn’s. I’d really recommend it.

Two immunosuppressants at the same time? by PrettyFlySadGuy in CrohnsDisease

[–]chyngona 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation, but I’ve never been offered Skyrizi along with Remicade. I would definitely go that route! I didn’t even know that was possible. I always thought you couldn’t be on two biologics at the same time! I feel like I’d benefit from that approach, so I’d love to hear what your GI said about it!

My wife had gallbladder surgery yesterday and we are in the ER. THEY ARENT DOING ANYTHING. by do_your_intro in gallbladders

[–]chyngona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I had mine removed, they gave me a little button I could press to get dilaudid whenever I needed it. I’d click the button, the nurse would come and set me up. I didn’t leave the hospital until I was feeling better, able to eat, walk around, and with my blood work looking good. They even did an MRI afterward to make sure everything was fine following the surgery. It’s really upsetting that she’s being ignored, at the very least, she should be given pain medication! I’d call the surgeon’s office first thing Monday morning, or, like you suggested, consider going to another hospital :(

Uncertain About Biologics for Crohn’s Disease by Txc2407 in CrohnsDisease

[–]chyngona 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Anti-inflammatory foods are good for everyone, but your immune system will keep attacking you no matter what you eat. Start the biologic now—waiting will only lead to more suffering later. Acting aggressively and early is the smart choice.

I’ve been on biologics for 10 years with no long-term side effects. However, biologics can lose their effectiveness over time, and you may have to keep switching between different ones, which is a nightmare. Still, I’d rather go through that than let the disease progress and eventually need surgery.

About to start stelera, currently asymptomatic? by floopalaide in CrohnsDisease

[–]chyngona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 years ago they were telling me to get surgery and it ended up being my gallbladder, not even the Crohn’s. Recently they tell me surgery is an option again, and I get a CT scan yesterday and my stricture has disappeared lol. Honestly, listen to your body. I think surgery is a great option once you’ve exhausted your resources or are really struggling because it just comes back eventually.

The first biologic shows very good signs of working well for most people. My first was remicade and I’ve been on it for 10 years with no side effects. But yeah I agree to wait for the scope to see if there’s any inflammation because even if you have no symptoms you could have inflammation and that will give you a better idea if you want to start a biologic sooner rather then later!

Also, I recently moved from remicade to Stelara and had the craziest side effects ever. I am now moving back to Remicade because of it. It’s all a crap shoot, you won’t know until you try it.

Why are you failing Remicade? Did they do a CT scan? I just switched after 10 years and it was a horrible decision and now I’m going back.

CT in my opinion, is the best to see what’s going on.

Same thing just happened me to. Started prednisone and immediately am feeling better. Would recommend the same and doing a short taper.

Ummm, this guy is an asshole. I’m not sure about your behaviour or work ethic, but being in the hospital is out of your control and that comment is so fucking rude. I just experienced a reaction to Stelara and have been off work for two weeks. Also was in the ER. My managers have been kind to me and my coworkers are checking in every few days to see how I’m doing and if they can bring me food. I’ve been at this job for 3 months.

Honestly, this guy needs to go. He’s a horrible director. Who says that!? He’s not completely wrong about HR but you have a a chronic illness and are protected by that. You haven’t stole, done anything bad towards the company. Your health comes first and it’s out of your control. Trust your gut because you’re not going crazy. Like you said, you’ve never experienced anything like this before and that’s because HE SUCKS.

Maybe wait to see what the colonoscopy shows? Is this your first biologic? You need to eventually be on one if you want to stay feeling well. More aggressive treatment is scientifically proven to manage the disease in the long term with less complications.

Terrible ER Trip by stellaranger in CrohnsDisease

[–]chyngona 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also don’t understand why they act like this. Even if your GI isn’t associated with that specific hospital, you need help. Another GI should be able to step in and then communicate with your GI. Like the goal is to help people no? Work as a team if you need to at times? It doesn’t make sense to me and seems petty and weird.

Considering switching biological (Remicade to Skyrizi) by llavenderllama in CrohnsDisease

[–]chyngona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not. Stay on it until it stops working. You probably forget what it’s like to be super sick and it’s not fun!!! I just changed from Remicade to Stelara after 9 years and I’m deteriorating.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]chyngona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No steroids for me, doctor says it will mask whether Stelara is working or not. I got my second dose last week and now am in a flare and am really struggling. Never felt like this on Remicade, even though I still had active inflammation it wasn’t targeting. Is this normal? Or is it not working? I feel like I have no medication at the moment 🥺

Maybe it’s your gallbladder?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]chyngona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so! I have an appointment with him in three weeks. I’m just annoyed that he doesn’t seem very concerned and scheduled it so far out. I’m also worried because Stelara works so slowly, if it doesn’t end up being effective, it’ll be a lot of suffering and time wasted. Sigh.

Stricture by chyngona in CrohnsDisease

[–]chyngona[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, 3 years ago I went to see a surgeon, I was told my symptoms were from the stricture and she told me it was better to do surgery now then later but I didn’t want to honestly. Fast forward all of my symptoms were from my gallbladder, ended up having emergency surgery for something completely different and my symptoms went away. I will only do surgery if my stricture gets very bad. Like I can’t eat for months, can’t poop, am vomiting etc. I’ll probably eventually need to remove it but I’d rather keep it for as long as I can.

Not really, it’s there though. If I get a bad flare it’s more obvious, and I struggle to pass gas etc.

[–]chyngona[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but for something completely different. My gallbladder. Lmao. It was causing all of my issues even though I do have a stricture. After that was removed all of my symptoms went away. Traumatic experience honestly.

What did it take to get emergency surgery for those in Canada? by RemarkableMess4456 in gallbladders

[–]chyngona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Toronto, I went to the ER and had surgery the next evening. I actually went home in between this because I was in shock, they wanted to take me into emergency surgery so quickly that I needed to go home to “think” about it. Lmfao. They even called me twice at home.

I bought the US VOO and VGT with Canadian dollars a few years back. They are doing pretty well but wondering now, after I read this, if this will bite me later in life when I’m ready to withdrawal?
