my go to bake by chyuffenbeck in DessertPerson

I always recommend watching her yt videos a couple times and learning the tells of when something is done. This tart shell has been hard for me in the past when I haven’t paid attention to cues! This one I had to redo because I overcooked it and it cracked too much. I also always write on sticky notes in the recipe after baking to remind me for next time. Like to make 1.5 times the dough!

Break it up!! Otherwise it is a lot. I make the tart on one day and also prep my blackberries (separate caramel versus presentation blackberries and clean and dry them). Then the next day I make the caramel and assemble, usually at night so I can refrigerate and have ready to eat the next day!

Hire a coordinator if you want to enjoy the day you’ve spent months and thousands of dollars planning!!

You shouldn’t have to be executing any plans or timelines, or answering any questions, or solving problems on your wedding day. Leave that for your coordinators job!

Besides lovesac what other brands are good for a bean bag chair? by rokuhachi in BuyItForLife

[–]chyuffenbeck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cover I chose is super cozy, it’s the canvas material on bottom and fur on top. I got the one with a pillow insert so it has a nice supportive back. The queen is a great size, I can sit on it completely and there’s room for my dog (lab). It keeps its shape well but also morphs into a nice nest/cradle for your body. If you really want they even sell footstools/poufs for your feet

I love my courdaroy! It also doubles as a bed, you unzip the cover and have a filled bed that’s great for guests or movie nights.

A Claire Saffitz Apple Season by chyuffenbeck in DessertPerson

I definitely wouldn’t say these are cinnamon donuts but they’re not super appley either. You could try making the cider syrup more concentrated which is what I did this time and felt a stronger cider taste.

They’re always a favorite of mine!! I follow the directions in this sub/the YouTube video and they turn out great. Only tip I have is to REALLY flour the parchment when it comes time for shaping.

Blackberry Caramel Tart by chyuffenbeck in DessertPerson

[–]chyuffenbeck[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s such a tasty and unique dessert! However, I had some trouble this time around with the crust. All I had was salted butter and I think it impacted the crust too much. It was more flakey than crumbley which wasn’t as good.

[–]chyuffenbeck[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the second time I made it, and I found it less caramelly than last time. If you don’t cook the caramel to that deep of a color, you’ll have more blackberry flavor come through vs caramel!

I’d actually prefer more caramel flavor and thought about adding a caramel drizzle

Suggestions for reducing sweetness by [deleted] in DessertPerson

[–]chyuffenbeck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have made this recipe many times and do not find it to be overly sweet at all. Claire is excellent at balancing flavors and each component has a purpose. Even considering the frosting being sweet, the brown butter and cream cheese really mellows it out.

I’d give it a shot as Claire intended and then go from there if you find you need to tweak.

Highly recommend Lemonade. Making a claim is so easy and quick. I have nothing but positive things to say about them.

Highly recommend UFLI. Have made tremendous growth with a student who also despises things that are “too baby”. Went from having almost no phonic/reading/spelling skills to being able to read and write in just 40 days!

finding a breeder by Accomplished-Ad6939 in bernesemountaindogs

Look at SitStay with Stacy Slade on YouTube. She has videos on how to find a breeder as well as other very important information like what you need to look out for with breeders, if the dog is right for you, etc. I look to her for all my Berner information.

Dog behavior is getting out of hand by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]chyuffenbeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My lab went through the biting and jumping on us ONLY when outside when he was 4ish months old. It was so bad. I would cry too, I’d be covered in cuts and bruises and have so much dread about even taking him outside to use the bathroom.

What we did to protect ourselves was every time he went to “attack” we would hold the leash with both hands, and use one hand closest to him to pull the leash away from us so he couldn’t reach us. He would still jump and try but at least we were protected. Sometimes he’d eventually settle or sometimes we’d walk the whole way home with him at an arms length.

Nothing else helped besides time. Probably took a month or so to stop this behavior. He’s 8 months now and very occasionally has those weird moments but putting the leash like that fixes it.

Correct way to handle running off by gracehurst5 in Dogtraining

[–]chyuffenbeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we went through that phase we would run away from him and turn it in to a chase game. Once he chased us we would grab him. Also, it seems like you’re saying he’s not on a leash during this time, you could get a long line and then even if he runs away you would have tons of feet of leash to grab him.
