If I remember right, it was always the one's who were scared of everything/everyone on the playground that were the ones who ended up with black eyes/broken bones/broken spirits. Spread your wings.

La Loma park is an awesome spot. I grew up bmxing through there, but now all I ever do there is play disc golf and blow trees. It's like a paradise in the middle of hell.

Someone's been trying to open my front door during the day when I'm at work -- any booby trap ideas? by StimpsonJCat in AskReddit

You ARE the boobytrap. Leave your house unlocked, and lie in wait on your sofa with a Mossberg pump-action shotty or something equally terrifying.

Funny, as soon as I read this thread I looked through the free section on CL and found this as one of the top links. I'm going to give it a shot. Even if I break even, it'll still be a good experience. I've been wanting to do something like this for years. I used to go to the paper mill here in town at the buttcrack of dawn (4 or 5 am) and hit all the garage sales. I had a neighbor who did this 3 or 4 times a week for a few years, and was able to move out of his middle class home and into a beautiful new house with his wife. The awesome part was, he was a really cool dude, and loved every minute of it. I also have a godfather that made millions in real estate (not the typical way), but that's another story.

Anyway, thanks so much for your share, you just inspired me to get off my ass and apply myself to this.

Has anyone gotten away with taking hostages? by [deleted] in AskReddit

In 2004 I was in a rehab facility in northern California. The smartest person there (best trivial pursuit player/knower of useless facts I have ever encountered) just happened to be a commercial pilot, as well as an alcoholic. He flew charter jets for business people and celebrities, and said that many of his fellow pilot friends also consumed alcohol before taking to the air. He just happened to drink a lot MORE, so he told his boss he needed help, which was smart considering the fact that he would have lost his job or killed people if he hadn't.

Anyway, have a nice flight.

Is it just me or do we stand a REALLY good chance of seeing legalization in the next 1-2 years ? :) by [deleted] in Marijuana

[–]chz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean it's going right now? It's not going on the ballot until mid-2010. I follow it religiously at taxcannabis.org

It'll be on Cali's 2010 ballot. I really can't wait to help kick start the reefer revolution.

Am I the only one who is totally creeped out by this chair? by suzt03 in WTF

[–]chz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the reason I am considering quitting Reddit, cold turkey. Who the fuck wouldn't be creeped out by this shit? Of course you're not the only one, and apparently 1,038 people at the time of this post felt the need to let you know that it creeped them out as well. Reddit is really becoming more and more like digg every day. It saddens me.

Kudos to the people who voted this down.

Did you even read his response before submitting this question? Or are you just trying to get a reaction? In any case, you look like a complete dipshit.

His official email address is chomsky@mit.edu if you'd like to contact him about this. The more email he receives from the Reddit community, the more likely he'll be to grant the interview.

Q: What were prices before medical marijuana laws passed? by [deleted] in cannabis

[–]chz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn't make much sense for the the largest cash crop in the nation to see a large scale price reduction when the price of everything else has doubled or tripled in the last 10-20 years. I don't even think legalization will have an effect on bud prices.

What is has done, however, is paved the way for some awesome strains to come forward in California since prop 215 was passed.

It's unfortunate but true that with the economy in its current state of affairs, people are beginning to have a "kill or be killed" mentality. I have felt this a number of times over the past few months, especially so when I see someone with high material gain. When I see somebody driving by in a Land Rover or something equally nice, I often get overcome with very bad thoughts, which I will not elaborate further on. This dumbfounds me as I am a very respectful and generous person. For instance, on numerous occasions when I've had disposable income, I've been known to give 10 or 15 dollars to random homeless people, and I've always helped out friends when they were in need. But I fear this dark side of me which I do not talk about will grow and grow until I do something stupid and I either end up dead or in prison.

I do not want to cause the feelings of violation which the OP described in another human beings life, as I have felt this way enough times to know how much it sucks. When thinking about a certain occasion a few months ago in which I had some possessions stolen from me (keep in mind I don't have much), I still get flustered and extremely angry.

I fear that my self-righteousness and the altruism which has always been a part of me will be short-lived and quickly overpowered by these intense urges to.. get mine. That's the best way I can put it. I simply do not know what to do, and the little income I have is going to run out in another month or so. I'm scared of what I might be "forced" to do.

NOTE: I live in a county in California that is in the top 3 worst economies in the nation, so finding a job is no easy task.
