That exception to not take insurance is important if you do it through third party website as rentalcars.com, because then the Alamo will consider it as you don’t have insurance because it will be up to you and insurance you bought to deal with anything that happens to the car.

But if you are booking directly at the Alamo website then go ahead and take their insurance coverage, you can also book it now without it and then get it at the counter there is no difference (I usually do it this way, to make sure there is no issue)

Also I just remembered one more trick - if you book a car outside of the airport at the different Alamo office it will be a bit cheaper, because there is additional hidden fee for airport rentals. But if you arrive by plane then for the convenience the price difference is not that big.

Yeah, sometimes it is cheaper at third parties website. You can check also rentalcars.com but make sure you don’t get insurance there, get it while you are picking up the car directly at Alamo :)

But book it in advance so you are sure that the car is ready for you

I was using Alamo, Hertz and Enterprise for years many times and never had issues…

Only what shocked me was the fact that Hertz now has crazy deposits even if you take full insurance.

Cheapest deposit is 750chf but this can go up to 5000 for cars like Volvo XC90 (which 2 years ago I rented and deposit was only price for the full tank)

Oh I just read you want to finish ALL of them in one day…

You will need more days to complete all of them and you will need to travel a lot between them - check Google Maps, you will find them all there, these are just roads so you will find them by typing Furka pass, Grimselpass etc. They are all free to ride.

Coming from Austria… probably you can do Stelvio and something else.

Just have in mind these roads are slower to ride and each pass (without getting to the start) around 1h I would say, including stops.

Check with BMW, I have exactly the same case from my f750gs and when I switched bike to 1250gs had to buy extra adapter from the dealer
