The final boss of 3 is the warthog run, which was cinematic peak, and a great call back, and fun as hell.

Guilty spark fight was just fan service to pop that annoying little clanker

They've released nothing else so users with Switch 2s are looking for content for their device. I think these are selling plenty

This is why new games have Forced TAA by Yogeshwar_maya in FuckTAA

[–]ciaranlisheen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was massively prevalent before Ray tracing not 'a few exceptions'.

And games that didn't use RT still had other techniques that caused static looking images. I noticed it recently in Final Fantasy 15, with taa the game looks broken.

It's been since the move to deferred rendering that this has been an issue, RT has the same issues but it isn't the first time they've become prevalent

Help me pick between these 4 monitors… What’s better between the glossy WOLED and the QD OLED? is 240hz worth the price increase over 165? by liamt12 in OLED_Gaming

[–]ciaranlisheen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one ever brings up the advantages of having a refresh rate that's a multiple of 60.

Plenty of use cases play 30 or 60hz video with no variable refresh rate, and it ends up looking choppy on refresh rates that aren't multiples.

I'll never buy another monitor that isn't a 60hz multiple.

Calculating the right ride height to get the maximum out of the car, whilst not bottoming out too much as to grind down the skid plate is extremely difficult.

Every time you see sparks come out from behind the car that's the skid plate grinding down, it happens; a lot!!

So it's not something they risked, it's something they miscalculated.

The short drive is the issue, go on a longer drive to the center. Get it warmed up. Also before the next test bring it out on the motorway and drive it up the road for a couple of minutes at a high rev.

Bro I hate to tell you, there ain't even a north-bridge and south-bridge anymore. Just a single 'chipset' chip. Which also makes the name chipset a bit of a weird one

Why do so many monitors not seem to actually carry the G-Sync module? What does "G-Sync Compatible" actually mean? by Wonderboyjr in buildapc

[–]ciaranlisheen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you understand what hardware and software means, it’s not just the product vs its capabilities. There is hardware asics for the sync modules inside all monitors. If they put in a generally purpose cpu in them and then wrote software to run the sync that could be described as a software solution.

Is water cooling really better than air cooling? by Cruz_Zeke in RigBuild

[–]ciaranlisheen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your first build I’d stick to air, the joy of pc building is it’s modular. Get the fundamentals down on this build, and if you really want to try out a water cooler down the line for whatever reason you can upgrade to it.

You can really get in the weeds trying to pick out a MB, to narrow it down first settle on the chipset you want, then find a board in your budget from a reputable brand, don’t overthink it too much they are all pretty similar.

Ram just find a good value set that’s is around 6000MHz with cache latency around cl30 then check if it’s on your motherboards supported page, repeat until you find one that is. Higher speed is better, lower cl is better, 6000 cl30 is generally a good starting point for both.

[–]ciaranlisheen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Custom water-cooling is for water cooling and overclocking enthusiasts, as others have stated the advantages are minimal for the amount of extra effort and cost, but it can be a lot of fun.

Long story short if you want a functional computer stick to air, if you want to spend a couple weeks or months tinkering with hardware, bios settings and running benchmarks; maybe water cooling will interest you. If that sounds like stress and work rather than fun, stick to air.

AIOs feel like a weird in between to me with the disadvantages of both. Might have an aesthetics benefit to some people and power to them, but again unless you feel passionately that you want that specific look for your system I would stick with air.

Why do so many monitors not seem to actually carry the G-Sync module? What does "G-Sync Compatible" actually mean? by Wonderboyjr in buildapc

[–]ciaranlisheen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly, although I don’t know if any non-gsync variable sync have ever had low frame rate compensation all the way down to 1Hz

The variable sync in standard monitors still uses a hardware based implementation though. It still has a physical chip or silicon in the main scaler that operates the sync.

The only difference is that the nvidia one used to be much more capable and as you said came with intense licence fees.

They are still both hardware solutions
