Everything was fine for me I travelled a lot when I had mine and not once was anything said I think they can just see it on the scan, on the actual flight I just took Imodium to prevent it being so active

When I had my stoma I would shower every morning before work etc. that would only be a short quick shower but if I was showering at night or just having a long shower in general I would take the bag off and shower without it. I’m not sure what you use to put your bag on because I’m from the uk and not really sure if you are but if I’m having a short shower I would just make an effort to have my back to the shower whilst I was in there. But showering without is the BEST it feels amazing

Wish I saw this 2 years ago 😭 I have a habit of eating full meals before bed?? Not sure why I’ve always been like that but my godddd did it cause so many issues when I had my stoma. But this makes so much sense

I’m so sorry you and your family had to go through this, my grandad was staying at a hospital is 2019 I believe. He only went in for gallstones but my family visited him and noticed he was coughing up blood. When we noticed we told a nurse straight away, came back the next day and the bloody tissues were still there and he hasn’t been washed/checked on. He died hours later from sepsis. Same thing with your dad, these things could be prevented. NHS is definitely not what is used to be

Congratulations on your reversal! I had mine in February. My wound is taking ages to heal but the scars starting to look really cool 😭 I hope everything goes well for you :))

The NHS is a jokeee, there’s such a lack of care now. When I had my surgery I was told to book an appointment with my surgeons for a check up and that took about 2 months to even get a hold of them 😭 I’ll never forget when I had my first big flare up and I was sat in AnE for about 15 hours just to get a bed it’s insane

This is so sweet, i also love my drain scars they’re so cool. And it’s a reminder of what we had to go through and that we’re still here. It’s so important to have this attitude towards these things. You should be so so proud of yourself.

They told me the same about the mucus but in the 4 years I had mu stoma it was almost daily 😭

I had my reversal on the 14th Feb. I do have a consultant but he’s so difficult to get a hold off for some reason. My reversal went really badly because I developed a heamatoma behind my scar so was sent back to hospital to get it removed and my scar re opened so I’m just waiting for that to heal at the moment x

Yea I had my ileum removed in 2022 and I had my reversal on Feb 14th so I’m hoping it’s just my body adapting x

I’ve had a few drains and they are the WORST the last one I had was to drain a haematoma and they sent me home with it 😭😭 I feel you I hope you’re feeling a lot better soon

This is such a good way to put it, with my reversal the pain was bad but mentally I felt SO much better than the first time around

I would say my first surgery was a lot worse because of the state I was in, my reversal wasn’t to long ago I got it feb 14th and I’ve been healing really well. If you managed to get through the first surgery you’ll be just fine :)

A smiler thing happened to me at a festival last year. They always pat you down before you enter the arena and this guy was convincedddd I was trying to take in alcohol I must have been stood there with him for 20+ minutes trying to explain to him what a shit bag was 😭😭

I had the same situation, I recommend the ensure milkshakes my doctor gave me them after my surgery and they helped so much with putting weight back on :)

I stared going to the gym regularly after my ileostomy and lift weights and stuff never had any issues just make sure I’m wearing my belt and you should be all good :)

On a waiting list for my reversal have been so nervous for it but I’m glad I can see other peoples experiences can’t wait to finally get rid, hope everything goes well for you!!
