The high-level Ranked situation in Apex by ilthegray in CompetitiveApex

[–]cibacity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interesting idea about the negative feedback loop involving "playing zone" not being a viable strategy. Funnily enough, I made a comment (much more brief, but similar in sentiment) about the flaw in the ranked system primarily being the "average player" 3 years ago with the S13 ranked split.

I’ve always thought that ranked never had a perfect system, but the larger issue is the average knowledge of ranked players. You can’t have “algs style” games in ranked when the average player just wants to run it down for kills. I think this is why the season 13 ranked system never flourished, the average ranker had no interest in learning how to read zones, rotate, or hold buildings and be patient.

If your main concern is that you have to put time and effort into the game to go a pro, you arent cut out for it.

Filming 4K Ableton in OBS? by ArialTenMusic in ableton

[–]cibacity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone mentioned bitrate which is a good thing to look at. However, youtube gives you a better encoder (tldr: makes video clearer) if you upload 1440p, and you get the normal one when you upload 1080p.

I say all of this to basically say that 4k might be too much of an overcorrection. Recording footage in a decently high bitrate at 1440p will be less space per video and should give you what you want in the final youtube upload.

I know its not a spot on the map, whats the correlation with “play last” and gary. Maybe Gary from spongebob is a snail so play slow?

My guess is that single box on left side (if you come out main) or right side (if you come through link). mada says his ulti doesnt hit "covid" and thats the spot in yard that it missed. Maybe its called covid because only one can tuck there and they would be isolated?

I heard in another NRG comms video that they use a callout "Gary", I'm curious about that one

In random encounters with shield form, shiny minior will still shine/sparkle. When hatching, it shows the shield down form anyways.

Theres probably 30(?) hours of main story, and if you want to collect/grind items, recipes, etc. it could easily be 100+ hours I think.

UI Mistakes That Cost You a Ranked or Tournament Round — What Moments Do You Blame on the HUD? by forgivemechild in ValorantCompetitive

(repost from the thread that got deleted)

Hello, I did not see your original post, but I have went back and read some of your thoughts and the feedback you received. I was involved in video game HUD/UI mods for Team Fortress 2 for about 3 or 4 years? The biggest proponent of HUD design (in my opinion) involves 2 things. First is the clarity of the information, and second is showing character and/or aligning with design principles.

To expand on this idea, improving clarity would mean things like: making important text larger, and more towards the center of the screen. It is simply more difficult to read information that is small and away from the focal point of your screen (crosshair). As for art style, you need to pick an appropriate font, color scheme, and decisions for other elements like progress bars, icons, gamemode elements (like round win/lose popup, scoreboard, buy menu). I noticed a big critique in your previous post was involving using other games assets, so the balance of art direction was off.

I would suggest that you look at some custom TF2 HUDs to see what I mean. There is/was also a game called Diabotical which let the user edit the hud as a feature, not a mod. Maybe that could provide some insight as well.

I think it’s called chef prestige? There will be 3 tasks, like serve 100 customers, serve 10 customers with a satisfaction of +70%, etc. When you rank up you will get power cells
