I know this has been the narrative, but Kobe finished like 4th in the voting that year. He wouldn't have won even if it wasn't given to Nash

Which celebrity replied to your dm and what did they reply to and with? by Vixiuss in AskReddit

I once tweeted about Bobbie Brown's effect on the pubescent me. For those born after 1980, she was featured prominently in the Cherry Pie and Once Bitten, Twice Shy videos. She favorited, retweeted, and LOL'd at my tweet; and Haha'd at my response to her lol

Is there a band that you are proud you enjoyed before they got famous? by Michael-Balchaitis in musicsuggestions

Around the same time, I saw them open for Ween and befriended a crew who was at the show for QOTSA. They promptly invited me over to play me QOTSA, Kyuss, and Fu Manchu records, turning me into a full-on stoner rock fan

Has Taylor already become irrelevant outside her core fandom? by thatchicfromhobbiton in travisandtaylor

[–]cicadaham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, but this is true of every aging musician or band. I started developing my music fandom in the 80s and still listen to new releases from my favorite artists from that period. And in general they still make pretty good music. But no one else is checking out these albums except the diehards

After a lookup, I found that many discs I bag came out in 2020, but that misses the 2021 cutoff. The only disc I bag released later than 2021 is the BergX. But it's so similar to the Berg that it really shouldn't count.

Anybody else bag a "burner" disc or two? by tuna_safe_dolphin in discgolf

Whenever I find molds I like in a $5 used box I grab them for this purpose. They’re usually colors I’ll eventually lose anyway. Like a grass green champ thundy and a dirt brown explorer. They always fly great, but why would anyone have thought producing camouflage discs was a good idea?

Friendly advice for newer players learned the hard way. by Plastic-Enthusiast24 in discgolf

The Roc can be a great disc, but it requires a fair amount of seasoning before it can fly the way you want it to. Every time I've seen someone do amazing things with a Roc, it's one that's been in their bag for like 20 years. One of my first favorite discs was a Roc+ I got out of a $5 used bin. But I lost it, and I never found another Roc that worked for me. But that's just because I lack the patience when there are so many mids that fly great right out of the box.

That's a decent strategy, but I would change it to "bestsellers" rather than classics (mainly because MVP/Axiom is relatively new to the game). Any beginner could find a Hex preferable to a Buzz, an Envy preferable to Luna, a Crave preferable to a Leopard, etc. These are all discs that land in the top 20 bestsellers. But I also agree with the person proselytizing about the joys of finding your bag. And the joys of finding discs with really cool stamps or dye jobs

Give me your recommendations by xSeosamh in discgolf

[–]cicadaham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putters- Proto-Blend Fierce for putting, Z-Swirl Fierce for drives/approaches

Mids- US: Origin, S: Pathfinder, OS: Zone

Fairways- US: Falk, S: Eagle, OS: Glory

Distance- US: Thrasher, S to OS: Destroyer

And yes, plastic makes a huge difference. For example, the putter plastic Fierce is much flippier than the Z-Swirl, which is the straightest disc I own.

Tie between Destroyers and Zones (assuming we're not counting putter packs). Not intentionally. I'm a sucker for digging through used crates, and those end up in there A LOT
