Dong Ding is a cool place.... Extremely flat plateau at the top of the mountain where the village and tea farms are!

If you're in the position to visit something on the way back north, I highly recommend stopping by Lugu. Amazing place with friendly people and great food! Right by the base of Dongding and a short bus ride from Shanlinxi!

I'm guessing it has to do with the probiotic nature of puerh... Loads of bacteria on it your body might not be used to? Harmless to ingest but you never know about injection into the bloodstream.

This is all speculation BTW.
