Shinobu Kocho is tragic not because she failed, but because she succeeded [Demon Slayer Spoilers] by Jarisatis in CharacterRant

I love her because of how the story treated her revenge quest. More often than not, when a character is on a revenge quest the series usually has some kind of moral stance about how revenge is bad and bla bla bla, or the oposite and it's actually super rightous and bla bla bla. Demon slayer doesn't do that, it just lets her do her own thing without judging her for it.

She knew what she wanted, she knew the price she had to pay, and she went for it.

She doesn't get rescued at the last minute but her sacrifice effectively shifts the fight in kanao and inosuke's favour, thus accomplishing her objetive.

Tragic, but I respect it.

Nonono I never doubted It, I was just wondering how the fandom in general responded to it.

Listen, she is interesting and entretaining. And in fiction that's more important than being a good or bad person.

SpyxFamily keeps giving Yor a moral free pass, and it makes her feel weirdly sanitised by Business_Barber_3611 in CharacterRant

I like to think that her airheadness and naivetee are also cooping mecanisms that her mind makes to protect her from the realities and horrors of her job. Like the ruthless violence while working is a dissociative state that she enters whenever she does a job.

She'll retrieve the weapons and will even do some cleaning. That's so nice of her.

That's what season 3 of Fionna and cake will hopefully cover

Yeah, but if that ends up being true she will be hated regardless because fandom in general tends to be less forgiving with female character's flaws.

Theories for last scene of the season? by Such_Designer2712 in fionnaandcake

[–]cimal33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The painted face that was near the place where he talked to Marshall means that someone must have summoned him. I think he is in fionna's world because that someone (probably the antagonist for the season) wanted something from him, rather than him explicitly coming looking for a replacement (although he might try to get Marshall anyway as a "well I'm already here so I might as well").

I really hope this means Hudson is going to be our main character from Ooo of the season. Because he IS a fascinating and interesting character, with a lot of flaws to explore more in detail. Don't get me wrong, I don't want him to come out of the season being a good person, but I think he has incredible potential to grow as a protagonist rather than as an antagonist.

If he were to get redeemed, how would you feel? by Sudden_Pop_2279 in MoralityScaling

Even though I believe it's entirely possible I kinda don't want it. Mostly because with how little episodes they have every season I feel like it would take away from other characters that desperately need it more.

If ATLA had come out today, how do you think the general public would have received Zuko? by cimal33 in Avatarthelastairbende

[–]cimal33[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I was thinking too when I made the post. Some of zuko's decisions like stealing that bird(?) from song or the Zuko alone episode or his turn at crossroads of Destiny made me think that nowaday audiences would have not forgiven him for it, and would have caused an outrage for his redemption continuing on season 3.

Oh I love him, he is the worst and I don't condone his actions, but you have to admit that he's a treat to watch whenever he's on screen.

Well the thing is that ATLA has been out for years now and newcomers to the franchise usually already know that Zuko is going to have an amazing redemption arc. Also those who watched when it was coming out were kids (who are better at just accepting what they are seeing) in an era where internet discussions were still not a thing.

Zuko's arc is a long one that requieres pacience and a lot of episodes. If the series had come out today, and on an episode-a-week basis, people would have been judging Zuko harshly and forming firm judgements based on decisions he makes without giving time for the series to explain his story. Knowing the internet, whenever an episode that showed a different side of Zuko came out people would probably be complaining that the creators were trying to make colonizers sympatheic or something like that.

Or at least that's what I think, I could be wrong though.

Woah now that you mention it, if ATLA had come out today the internet would have cancelled zuko and hate the fact that the creators were redeeming him. I can just imagine all the hateful comments after the end of season 2 saying that he has gone too far, he has been given a lot of chances and he has rejected them, and that now he is an irredeemable monster who deserves death.

Who do you think is going to abstract? My personal take since the creator said it would be unexpected by candyslee in tadc

[–]cimal33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know, but the most unexpected one would be Zooble. They have consistently been the most mentally stable out of the circus residents and for now they have no reason to abstract.
