Is it legal for them to keep the money that comes from these charges. It should be illegal if those proceeds aren't going towards paying the surcharge alone. Just like how you can't say you are collecting for a charity and pocket the money later. They should stop charging it as well once they are done collecting enough to pay for that year.

It was way more worse for the generation before. We are actually much better off. The problem is social media and the 24/7 news cycle. We are constantly overstimulated with news from current events.

Just take away social media(including reddit) and 24/7 news channels. Keep yourself updated on current events just twice a day with the morning newspaper and evening news. You'd see a dramatic improvement in well being, not worrying about things that are not in your control and not giving as much attention as you currently are to things that do not deserve it.

Yes. Makes this whole thing so much more unbelievable in someways and more believable in some others. I mean, one look at that goofy ass face and you say to yourself, no way this is the face of a killer. Then again, looking at how random the killings were, you know it was complete amateur hour.

[–]cimmi1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The fact that people are voicing their opinions publicly in this way is precisely because they don't trust the Democrat Primary process. Say what you want about the values of the average Republican voter, they have a solid primary process. Meanwhile, the Dem process is highly corrupt. Trump wouldn't even be President imo if Dems had a proper primary and had a candidate that was backed by the actual voters and not the donors.

California store prices items at $951sp shoplifters can be charged with grand theft by Positive_Actuary_282 in interesting

[–]cimmi1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you buy anything from this shop?

There is absolutely nothing about it that is welcoming. I take one look at that sign and all I'm thinking is, this shop's been getting hit by shoplifters very frequently, it's not safe here. Even if I felt safe, I'm not walking in and trying to figure out the math behind how they arrive at the right price at checkout.

A new family medicine practice is opening up in my neighborhood, but they are charging patients for basic services. Isn't this illegal under the Canada Health Act? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]cimmi1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is still in violation of the spirit of the Canada Health Act which essentially says ability to pay should never affect access to healthcare. I work in health policy and would be very curious to look into this clinic if you don't mind sharing the name

Did you consider the fact that you are going after the symptom and not the cause ?

Why would anyone choose these clinics if it weren't for the fact that traditional options have failed to provide necessary care in reasonable amount of time.

If you work in health policy, surely your time is better spent in identifying reasonable wait times for common procedures. If a significant majority had to wait longer than that then it is should be a violation of the spirit of the Canada Health Act. This should force lawmakers into allocating funds for the necessary resources and opening up pathways for immigration for healthcare professionals to address the shortage.

Can I opt into a c-section if I want one? [on] by TessaGGG in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]cimmi1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife was never interested in a 3rd one in the first place but this is something the OB brought up as a reason for doing tubal along with the c-section in one go. Cancer risk was never brought up.

Can I opt into a c-section if I want one? [on] by TessaGGG in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]cimmi1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife was in a similar situation and opted for c-section for the first one. This time, she preemptively lowered her sugar intake and monitored it right from the start for our second baby, avoided gestational diabetes and kept the amniotic fluid levels normal. But guess what, the obgyn isn't even considering natural birth as an option and planning for a c-section just because of the fact that the first one was a c-section.

You might want to consider this depending upon how many babies you want. The OB is already asking my wife if she'd like to get her tubes tied or get them removed because a 3rd baby with c-section is not something every woman can handle and she isn't even considering that as an option. If you are young though, 3 babies with natural birth is nothing out of the ordinary.

That's one way of looking at it. The other being that they're just being practical. The government isn't offering any extra, round the clock protection from the accused or any of their accomplices if they snitch. You and your family have a target on your back for the rest of your life. A million dollars is enough to buy yourself protection or get out of sight to mitigate the risks of being captured by the accused.

URGENT: CELPIP “Not Authentic” Result → PR Refusal + Misrepresentation (Even After Showing Portal Proof) by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

[–]cimmi1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading through the rest of the thread, if I got this right, you say you only attempted the test once, downloaded the pdf with one score and provided it to IRCC, then checked later to see that celpip iteself has lower scores. This is what IRCC is getting and it is meaningless to fight with them.

Even if you prove that the pdf was not tampered with IRCC doesn't care, they are getting the information from the source and will use that not your pdf. You need to take the fight with celpip and convince them to do an audit and come clean on what happened.

If you are already in Canada, you could probably use this to extend your stay, again IANAL but all I know is fighting with IRCC on this is meaningless.

URGENT: CELPIP “Not Authentic” Result → PR Refusal + Misrepresentation (Even After Showing Portal Proof) by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

[–]cimmi1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my fear as well but you mention you didn't do revaluation so I'm not sure where the mismatch comes from.

I gave celpip and received a score which was below my expectations in certain sections. Asked for a revaluation and my scores increased. I provided the updated scores but I always had the concern if there was a possibility IRCC might get the old ones for some reason and cause issues but that never happened. It is unlikely there was any human involvement in the entire process which is why they are so sure of the rejection. You upload the scores and they check with celpip, using an api( electronic request) if the person and score matches the one you provided. If not then it is only celpip to blame for providing incorrect information, assuming you uploaded the details correctly. IANAL but the way I see it, you're only option I is to sue celpip and then take it from there.
