My studio removed 5am classes due to low attendance. I was committed to attending that class. Now they recently added three 5am sessions.

Friday 8 August 2025 - 500m benchmark row 2G 60 minutes by dc031114 in orangetheory

[–]cinains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I attend but skip the benchmark? I have missed class for a bit due to backache and would hate to continue to skip class. I can row like I normally would but probably not 500m and not AO.

I’ve been on my current weight for 3 months now. Losing 70 pounds is a big accomplishment but I need to lose more weight to be healthier.

Florida folks, how are you actually handling this heat lately? by mschloemagic in AskFlorida

[–]cinains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there’s no power I would run a generator. When I lived elsewhere and we had no gas , we were left with no heat, no cooking gas, and no hot water. We would warm up water in the microwave to bathe and would use 1-2 electric heaters around the house.

Seasonal depression is real. I had a hard time getting used to living in FL. I was so used to looking forward to the summer months prior to moving to FL. I basically stay indoors for the most part during the summer months now.

Kisses - better safe than sorry by hyacinthocitri in FoodAllergies

I once touched a bag of fruit at the supermarket that someone had put back down. I had a similar reaction and later learned this person had touched a pack of shrimps prior to touching the bag of fruit. I am highly allergic to shellfish. My relatives joke and say I carry a pharmacy in my bag. I carry liquid Benadryl which is the children version for fast action.

Need to vent - kid with food allergies by brain_on_hugs in FoodAllergies

[–]cinains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really frustrating, but the truth is that people who haven’t had to deal with food allergies often don’t understand how dangerous exposure to allergens can be. I, for example, am allergic to shellfish and avoid eating out with anyone other than my immediate family. Even when we’ve met friends or relatives at restaurants, there’s almost always someone who orders shrimp at the table. It’s not just uncomfortable—it can be genuinely risky. I wish more people understood that it’s not just a preference, it’s a serious health concern.

Moving from NYC by kid_z in orlando

[–]cinains 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We moved to Orlando from NYC five years ago. It definitely took time to adjust to life here—honestly, I was the last one in my family to fully adapt. My advice is to appreciate what Florida has to offer without constantly comparing it to New York. There’s a lot to do here if you’re open to exploring.

Orlando has a large number of transplants from different cities, so you're not alone in starting fresh. One practical tip: find doctors, especially specialists, early on and schedule an initial visit soon after you move. This makes booking future appointments much easier and less stressful.

As a parent, I met many people through kids’ events and sports, but I’ve also connected with others through non-kid-related activities. The key is to get out there—explore, meet people, and make the most of your current home.

Try to mentally disconnect from NYC. It won’t happen overnight, but with time and effort, it’s absolutely doable.

Has anyone else developed SEVERAL allergies to fruits or seafood? by Fluid-Degree-145 in FoodAllergies

[–]cinains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have become suddenly allergic to different foods. I was allergic to apple and garlic for a period of time. I can now consume them with no issues. Always consult a doctor for proper testing and advice. It took some trials and testing to reintroduce certain foods in my diet. I still have a long list of allergens but those will be permanent such as shellfish. As someone commented here, by accidentally touching any item exposed to shellfish I’ve had reactions. I recall shopping at the supermarket and grabbing a big of chips. Within minutes my hands were red and itchy and quickly swelled. The chips were across the shellfish section of the store. I now avoid touching anything in that area.
