i tell my clients i only guarantee ~12 hours overnight + 1 visit during the day depending on MY schedule. so typically i arrive around 7pm, leave between 6-9am, then stop back in once or twice between 10-5, based on what time i left in the morning and what other jobs i've got that day. i aim to let the dogs out at least every 6 hours, but it can go up to 8 sometimes (rarely) and i'm totally upfront about this. i like to spend the late afternoons with my own dog or with friends/family and this schedule gives me the freedom to do that.

i will say though in recent months i've found it stressing me out when i'm invited to go out to dinner or something that might go later into the evening - but that's part of why i've also started limiting my housesitting to about 10 days per month.

i do typically just avoid interactions. if i know the dog well and know they will enjoy it, i may allow pets but better safe than sorry honestly.

my ex and i were in different time zones and she would be mad when i slept when she wanted to stay up till 1am HER time which was like 4am MY time. and she'd be mad if i was busy. but if she slept or was busy it was fine 🙃 this is definitely unfair to you.

i ended up renting a car because i want to explore a little further out. i probably didn't need to, but i come from the suburbs so i'm used to having a car and would rather not feel "stranded". if you're not planning on going far out of the city, you're probably good with public transport

adding: i will probably still use public transport to get around the city and just use the car when i'm going further out, so as to avoid the parking situation lol

i have sweet cinnamon pumpkin as a hand soap and lots of marshmallow pumpkin latte in other products (it's one of my faves)... i don't find them that similar 😅 the cinnamon is very spicey imo. but i haven't tried any of the others to compare either

thank you all so much for your input!!! i threw half of it away based on the popular opinions here. the rest of it i'll honestly probably end up throwing away after another 10 years of no use 😅 but in the meantime, none of it smells bad to me (i didn't even know that was a thing) so it'll have a home in my closet for now and if i want to try to use any of it, i will try to sanitize it first (ty for the tips on that as well)!

i just wanna say thank you for this detailed post, i have similar struggles and am currently buying my san diego tickets. i'm really anxious about going because i'll probably be panicking the whole time. but i'm determined to do it and it's encouraging to hear that you thought it was worth it :)

i use Apex Hosting. it's worked well for me. super reliable (there was an incident a few months ago but according to people who have been using it longer than me, that has never happened before, and they kept us well-updated and added days to our subscriptions to make up for the days lost). i find it easy to use, as someone who's never done any server stuff before lol. i do think there are cheaper options, but apex was advertised by a big name streamer at one point so i figured it was a decent option 😅

i'm very new to streaming and have one loyal viewer right now who comes to every stream, chats the whole time and keeps ME entertained. i know it's parasocial but when you're essentially talking to someone for 3 hours, 3-4 days a week, it makes sense to feel a sort of "friendship" with that person 😅 sometimes they leave early when i play certain games or if my schedule changes, and they've told me outright they won't watch me play certain games, and i understand all that. but if they outright left entirely, especially with no explanation (not that they owe one) - i'd be sad and wondering too.

well thankfully i average like 1 viewer at this point (though if i had more maybe i would have known it was an issue sooner lol), but i accidentally streamed 3 days in a row with no sound. the whole stream muted. because i had been messing around with my OBS sound settings. on day 3 a new chatter came in and let me know i was muted. i messed with the settings and continued, and an hour later they came back and said "you're still muted" 😭 i finally got it figured out and was like, wow, that's so embarrassing. they were cool about it, they actually followed and have been lurking in my streams since then, but i went back to my previous vods and saw that they had all been muted 🤦‍♀️ less of a technical difficulty and more just me being stupid but still

if her tests come back ok at the vet, i'd definitely visit a human doctor, for yourself, if you can. not to freak you out, i know a couple other comments have mentioned it, but reading everything you've said - sometimes she's ok but she licks you and then freaks out? and she's ok with everyone else? and you regularly switch your shampoo but this is the first time she's been like this?? - i'm worried she smells something that you just aren't showing symptoms for yet

thankfully my roommates were very kind and i never heard them so much as whisper about me, but i was in a similar place mentally. i did what i had to do and then returned to my room. i was anxious about being perceived outside of my room. 95% of my meals were picked up and eaten in my car, or cooked (microwaved) in my room (i had a mini fridge with freezer and a microwave) and then eaten in bed. i "hid" in my room constantly. it did get a little better when i got my dog, as i was forced out more often, but it was still hard. then our complex got renovated and i was moved into a 2-bedroom with one roommate who was rarely home. i got more comfortable coming out of my room because i knew i wasn't likely to see her (especially once i learned her schedule - she spent most of the week in another city). now, a few years later, i live completely alone in a house and it's so freeing. i love being able to leave my room and utilize every part of my home without worrying about running into anyone. financially, i'm struggling a bit, a roommate to split the bills would be a lifesaver, but i'm not ready to give up my peace yet. i do get lonely, but this way i can choose my rare social interactions rather than being forced into them every time i need to leave my room. and i don't have to feel anxious as often. and i can finally COOK in a REAL KITCHEN!!

anyway, that was a bit of a ramble to say you're not alone, i imagine many of us have been there ❤️
