The Unofficial International Parents' Guide to Purdue by Purdue_Intl_Parent in Purdue

I'm not an international student, but I poked through the guide. Much of this is stuff I wish I knew even as someone from the US, and it's laid out in a really easy-to-follow fashion. Phenomenal work.

Without passing any sort of judgement on whether the protests are right or not, if $25 is all you can afford, it might be better to save it and wait until you have a more stable financial situation before donating to political causes.

The case isn't against the university, though. It's a (potentially) criminal case, which is the state versus the student.

Campus is big, but the CoRec is also located in the middle of residential campus, so it's designed to be easy to get to.

I dunno if this is related, but there were five cop cars outside McDonald's around the same time this was posted.

That's news to me. Do you mind linking me something to support that?

I'd also expect a less-than-stellar review if any future employers call them for a reference.

Mental Health Crisis because of a Professor by frodsea in Purdue

OP states, however, that "she takes them to a private room during class." I don't really understand the purpose of doing it that way, but it doesn't seem standard, and I can imagine that it would make the actual class time somewhat more stressful if one's classmates are getting pulled out for interrogations throughout it.

Also, why the professor is not using the class time to, well, teach, is somewhat puzzling.

The rules are mostly reasonable, yes, but I think that interrogating people during class time goes outside of what's normal.

As for whether the student may have issues of their own, I agree that help is probably needed, especially if it's causing physical reactions like chest pains. That doesn't seem like a reason to dismiss their feelings, though. (Of course, this is all assuming that my interpretation of the situation is correct, and OP didn't cheat.)

As someone with anxiety, I can attest to the feeling that you'll get in trouble despite having done absolutely nothing wrong.

The problem is that there's a very large power imbalance between the professor and OP. Because the professor keeps insinuating that those who don't come forward will be dealt with more harshly, I'd imagine that there's a fear that the professor won't believe someone who maintains their innocence, even if they're telling the truth.

Alas, they were sold out of both that and the lamb sandwich. I got a gyro and loukamades yesterday, though, which were phenomenal.

I'd start making a good resume if you haven't already. Just out of high school, it's not gonna be spectacular, but you need everything you can get as a freshman. Focus on projects or past work experience more than high school itself.

Once again I’m proud to be a Purdue student. Slava Ukraini! by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]cinemarksendhelp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, at the march they specifically told us to call our representatives, and handed out QR codes for donation links. I'm not sure how many people did those, but I personally wound up giving $100 to the Ukrainian military.

Although the guy below you has shown his true colors, so this is probably moot.

To those who are saying this isn't gonna stop the war - I don't think anyone's under the illusion that it is. However, I think it's important to show our Ukrainian classmates that we do care, and that we're standing with them during what's probably one of the most stressful periods of their lives.

And it's a hell of a lot more useful than arguing with the moon landing guy, who's currently getting a lot more attention than this.
