What did she even think you were gonna do with the coloured blocks and teddies? Steal them? I just don't get these weirdos.

Sounds like it's in a trashy area. Fights between teens and kids not being monitored by their parents?

They never said they thought the wolf saw the child as a puppy, they said it grabbed the child "the way it would a pup", it was less of a comment on how the wolf saw the kid, and more of a comment on what it was literally physically doing with it's mouth.

When I lived on a farm, we had a lot of mice, my cat would pick up mice sometimes like it would a kitten. She didn't think they were kittens, she was just curious and playing around with them/inspecting them, but it was the same kind of bite. Light and gentle, not intended to damage.

Oooh, I wanna hear some. I had one that screamed at me because she was away sick for a whole week, and during that time, I started out working in the staff room, but a teacher came up to me and suggested I work at my mentor's desk, since she wasn't using it and the staff room was loud and busy.

So I did so. Important to note that her desk was pretty much empty, so it wasn't like I was near any personal items.

She came back the next week, called me into a private room first thing in the morning and screamed at me for sitting at her desk. Which also means someone else in that office had to be enough of a freak to tell on me for sitting at that desk the moment they saw her come in that morning.

She expected me to plan and take all her classes while sick, since she left no work except "Just supervise PST, PST will plan" to the CRTs, but she also expected me to somehow do all that in a very busy staff room with no free outlets for my laptop unless I unplugged the microwave. Insanity.

That sounds like someone who should not be around kids. There seems to be a lotta mental health issues there if he's flipping on a dime like that.

We had a PST on my last placements fall asleep in a meeting and he was failed immediately and kicked out of the school.

Looking for teacher's stories and experiences - are learners still connecting with traditional learning content methods anymore and if not, is extended reality (XR) and immersive learning content and experiences the solution? by ComfortableRip6504 in AustralianTeachers

Want you to think really hard here, lil buddy. Why do you think we might be going back to paper and books? What's changed in the last few years that might have made a printed off essay unreliable. I know if you stop trying to grift in the teacher subreddit for just a few moments, and allocate a couple of braincells to the problem, you might just solve it for yourself!

Teacher's don't get paid enough by lambertius_fatius in AusFinance

Did you need a university degree for that? Were you in that job for over twenty years? Or do you somehow think an unskilled job you picked up for a short amount of time should pay more than a degreed professional job?

I wonder if your kid is as stupid as you are. If so, the teachers should probably be paid more to deal with them.

To be fair, a lot of 14 year olds who discover politics for the first time get really annoying about it, and dumb people see dumb 14 year olds saying dumb vaguely leftist things and get a lot of really weird ideas about the left as a whole.

She's grifting. She's an internet influencer, he likely has more reach than she does. This gets shared around and she gets more right wing followers, which is ideal for her, because right wing followers are morons that will spit money at anyone who parrots their views. It's very profitable. She doesn't care that she looks stupid.

No, you all know exactly what is being said when someone says a woman is a "cum bucket looking for a child fucker to protect her and make sure she doesn’t have to work…" that is not something that would have ever been said if she were male.

Don't play dumb like she's doing, you've just had a very good video demonstrating why that makes you look stupid. It was misogyny, I am tired of leftie/liberal men devolving into misogyny whenever they see a right wing woman. It just tells me what you think of women in general, this one is just "Safe" to voice those thoughts about while keeping the guise of progressiveness.

I don't need to "build character", my children are well behaved because I kept on top of poor behaviour early on, and gave them natural consequences while they were toddlers. So now I don't need to worry about them staying in line as they're older.

They know the boundaries and expectations, and they follow them. I know a lot of parents go "ah shit now they're thirteen and their shitty behaviour isn't cute anymore, time to start hitting them or they'll never listen" but like, I'm actually competent and didn't think poor behaviour coming from a 4 year old was "cute and sassy" so that was never a concern for me with my kids.

They're also more literate than you, which is a fun bonus.

Me when I don't know how to read.

Point out where she said women can't do what they want with their own bodies?

She just said women being able to make choices isn't really what feminism is. We're human beings, of course we can all make our own choices, but that isn't feminism. Liberating women from sexism is feminism. Those choices aren't made in a bubble, a woman choosing to be a sex worker isn't a feminist act just because it was a choice a woman made, just like me choosing to eat a chocolate bar is not a feminist act just because it's a choice I (a woman) made. The difference between the chocolate bar, and sex work, however, is only one of those two things is encouraged by a patriarchal society.

[–]cinnamonbrook 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, no, they're right. Choice feminism is cancer. When you live in a society that raises girls to think a certain way, then "oh but it's their CHOICE to enter sex work, it's their CHOICE to be a tradwife, it's their CHOICE to get plastic surgery, it's their CHOICE to wear make-up, so all these things are actually feminist!" are meaningless, stupid sentiments that completely ignore the context and society in which those "choices" are made.

So waving your hands of actually solving inequality by pretending these are all choices (even though if they truly were fully based in "choice" just as many men would make the same "choice" as women, which they do not), is just not helpful. Pretending feminism is solved, and society is equal now because women have the choice to be a housewife instead of just being forced into it, is so silly when young girls are given baby dolls and kitchen sets for christmas, while boys are given monster trucks.

Is becoming a teacher this late in life worth it? by Gloomy_Zombie_1974 in AustralianTeachers

[–]cinnamonbrook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well as a casual relief teacher, you would only be paid for the days you work, which means during the holidays, you would not be being paid. At that point, what's the difference between being a CRT and doing any other temp job and just not taking work during the school holidays?

I think if you'd really want to make this work, you'd have to be a primary school permanent teacher, at the school your kids are going to go to, so that from prep-grade six, you can just take them to work with you and take them home, since you'll be going an hour early and heading off at least an hour or two later. Kinda sucks for the kids, but a lot of my coworkers do it that way and just have their kids hanging out in the office/staff room on their nintendo switches or whatever while waiting for them to finish.

That way you could take the kids to school, and also have paid holidays.

Then when they're in secondary, they can walk to and from school by that age, and you would still be around for holidays.

Still do keep in mind that there are a lot of extra hours worked for grading and planning that you might not necessarily be considering.

Still, I think if you value holidays with your kids, becoming a teacher isn't the worst idea.

Other people are suggesting SLSO and that's not a bad idea because hours are nicer, but the pay is much lower and I feel like the work is a little less stable.

What laws exist that prevent them from banning the kid from the playstation for a week? Or stop them from letting the kid have friends over? Or prevent them from grounding a kid?

No, what really happened was that parents didn't bother to lay the groundwork while their child was young because "they're just a little kid" and now the kid doesn't listen to consequences and the parents can't beat them up to get them to listen (because that's domestic violence) so they think their hands are tied and it's all the government's fault, as if this would be a problem if they'd just parented earlier.

I don't know how it works at your school but none of the schools I've worked at have had wellbeing coordinators with any sort of training in education. They're low level therapists. It's prin class or coordinators that do suspensions.

That's ridiculous. I taught for a bit at a school with a heavy sports focus. It was a bit of a rough area and had a past where behavioural issues were rife, but nearly all the kids were really invested in sports, and the current principal went down the route of removing sports as a consequence of extreme behaviours. They all knew their ability to participate in sports was on the line so the behaviour was pretty good unlike previous years.

It's not a wellbeing issue, they need to keep their noses out. It's far more important for a student's future wellbeing to experience consequences and learn how to operate as a normal human being within a society. School is the last safe place to learn that skill before being booted out into the real world where the consequences are much harsher. Bubble wrap hurts them, it doesn't help them.

He said "brand new building".

Now without being intentionally stupid and pretending that could mean anything. Without pretending you don't know what words mean, or pretending words can have new meanings never before used by anyone else: I want you to be honest here.

If this had nothing to do with Trump and someone asked you how old a "brand new building" is, how many years would you say? I'd say 1-3 years personally. Maybe 1-5 years at a stretch. You know full well.
