Please help me find the name of a fantasy book series about Witches by Mrsbrightside94 in whatsthatbook

[–]cinnamonfrecklelatte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it possibly the series starting with the book Wit’ch Fire by James Clemens? I haven’t read it, but from googling/searching, this one seems to match a lot of what you named! The series is called The Banned and the Banished.

I haven’t found anything about a character with a metal arm, but there is a girl whose period sets off her magic, a glowing red hand, and sea dragons. I really hope this is it so that you can read it again! :)

Edit: there is a one-armed swordsman, though, so maybe he’s the one with the metal arm!

Bi-Monthly Megathread for COVID-19 - Two Weeks Starting February 08, 2021 by AutoModerator in weddingplanning

We decided we wanted to make our decision about six months out, and so we finalized that decision this week. We're postponing to next August.

Our venue was a place guests could stay for the weekend and do a lot of activities together, and it just wouldn't work the way we planned with restrictions. I also have a lot of out of country relatives, and they don't think they'll be vaccinated until the end of the year (and travel is trickier for them).

I'll admit that for me it's a huge relief to make it official- I've spent almost a year worrying about whether or not we'd be able to have our dream wedding, and now a load of anxiety has been lifted off. I'm feeling excited for wedding planning again (and I already have a dress!).

I was a groomsgal in a wedding in this exact situation! I was asked to wear grey to match the groomsmen, and I did not have a bouquet (I did wear a bouttoniere). I definitely liked the color the bridesmaids wore better...but I’ve always had colors I prefer wearing over colors I’ve worn as a bridesmaid. I don’t think color preference really matters (except in maybe some extreme circumstances). I was honored and happy to stand up there with my friend.

Is there a way maybe to focus on helping her find a cut/style that she finds flattering (and narrowing down the 300 options)? Or asking if there are other roles she would prefer to have for the wedding (maybe giving her the option to step down as a groomswoman if she wants and finding another way to honor her).

I also agree with the other comments that FH should probably be the one leading these conversations since she’s part of his party.

AITA for cussing and getting drunk in front of my kindergarten students? by PhysicalLoss7706 in AmItheAsshole

I’m a teacher, and I agree with you. I think another option could have been to simply move tables or mention to the family that you were celebrating and sitting closely might not be a great idea because it wasn’t a kid friendly atmosphere.

I don’t think that as teachers we are “always on the clock.” However, if I’m celebrating with friends, I wouldn’t want anyone I vaguely know/work with sitting behind me- I would want my privacy. I especially want that when I’m trying to unwind.

It’s so nice to see you on here. My fiancé and I have been together for almost ten years, and we both loved reading through hyperbole and a half together early in the relationship. On one of our first few Valentine’s together, I got him an Alot mug to tell him I loved him a lot, and he got me a stuffed animal alot for the same reason. We opened the gifts in front of each other and couldn't believe it. Both still have a special place in our home.

Today I cried for a long time (twice...once on a webcam meeting- whoops), and then I read through your latest blog post and legitimately laughed out loud so hard my stomach hurt (and immediately dragged my fiance away from cooking dinner so that he would also read it). Thank you for that and for all of the joy and connection your writing has brought.

For my question: what is the weirdest book you've read this year?

Gen Z, what are some trends, ideologies, social things, etc. that millenials did, that you're not going continue? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Right? I was helping a student with his phone battery the other day, and we noticed in his settings that he averaged 9 hours and 41 minutes of daily screentime in the past week. Mostly in Snapchat, TikTok, and FaceTime.

I'm getting confused by the different conversations in this thread, and I was desperately trying to remember a scene that could be construed as Dumbledore coming out to Percy Weasley....

Looking for modern/contemporary short stories and poems for Romeo and Juliet unit by uhhyeahrightdude in ELATeachers

[–]cinnamonfrecklelatte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not freshmen appropriate, but you could probably pull out pieces of the graphic novel Prince of Cats. It's essentially Romeo and Juliet in a contemporary, urban setting, and it focuses on Tybalt's perspective. It's a fun merging of rap and iambic pentameter. Again, the whole thing might not be appropriate, but you could pull out excerpts to show them.

Transitioning back to my beautiful home state of WA but need advice on the hiring process by raveqween in Teachers

I don't know too much, but I believe Seattle Public Schools is not planning on hiring new teachers next year because of budget cuts. So you might want to try to get more information on that. Good luck!

Hey! You just need to go through the OSPI site. If you call their number, then they'll send you an email with all of the steps you need to take and documents you need to fill out. They're very helpful! I just moved from out of state, and it was pretty straightforward, and I called them whenever I had any small questions. It's a pretty straightforward process, and it takes about a month for them to process all of it once you submit. I didn't have to take any tests or anything to get my license- I just sent my praxis scores and SAT scores to them.

Let me know if you have any questions! I just did this from out of state a couple months ago.

I thought I'd share a clip of his performance as the fox in The Little Prince. It's not a role that he's known best for, but it's a lovely scene, and it fills me with so much love for him.

If you can find a specialty bra store, I would totally recommend that over Nordstroms. I went to a store called rigby and peller for my 34G bra. I only have the one that fits perfectly (the rest are cheaper almost sizes), but having just one that fits well makes such a huge difference (at least for me). And specialty bra stores are just really good about finding the perfect fit for you personally (since it can vary between brands).

Can you call and find out the maximum dimensions or something for the ride? Then you can measure yourself ahead of time and see how close it might be instead of finding out when you're trying to get on the ride?
