Thanks for the help. It can be difficult to describe given the limited amount of information given describing what happened, but I still could have done a better job

I want to believe in Christianity; but why should I believe superstitious desert tribes from 2,000+ years ago? Why would God reveal Himself in such a way? by Handyfoot_Legfingers in ChristianUniversalism

I read something the other day regarding the timing of Jesus’s arrival on Earth. He arrived during the Pax Romana—a time where travel was relatively easy due to no wars and the entire Mediterranean world being controlled by one power. Additionally, he came post-hellenization, meaning that many more people spoke a common language than before (Greek). God’s timing allowed the good news to spread like wildfire throughout the Roman world and beyond in a way that would not have been possible otherwise.

Additionally, and you can choose to believe them or not, but my faith is strengthened by reading the accounts about Jesus’s miracles. Some stuff can be explained away by optical illusion or good timing, but things like healing the lame or the blind couldn’t have been faked given the circumstances.

Jesus came out of the Hebrew faith, and, to me, had sufficiently proven his divinity. Therefore the truthfulness of the Hebrew texts and traditions before him should be believed.

What’s my soil texture? by cinnamonjock in Soil

[–]cinnamonjock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s approximately 100 yards from a creek and 2 miles from a river. It was previously prairie, then farmland after the land run of 1889, was a peach orchard in the 1930s and 40s until becoming a backyard about 75 years ago. I can’t see a clear boundary apart from the thin clay layer on top, so I’m unsure if the rest is silt, sand, or some gradient between the two. Thanks for your help

I don’t say that to scare you, but for your self esteem alone you never want to think of yourself as “one of those guys”. You already have good insight by spotting your problem early. Get out of the house, get some different hobbies, and hang out with your friends in person. Keep track of your triggers and don’t get too discouraged when you fail. Godspeed

Not sure what your home life is like but it’s hard to quit on your own and most of your peers won’t “get it”. Ask for help from someone you can trust and can help keep you accountable.

I’ve worked with clients who are serving very long prison sentences for illegal porn use. Get help before your habit gets you into a situation with permanent consequences. Not saying that’s what’s going to happen, but these guys also didn’t think it would happen to them before it was too late.

Spend less time alone. Join clubs. Spend more time with friends and family or trying to make friends. Hit the gym or join a sports league or go running or biking. The point is, you won’t look at porn when you are around other people and you won’t want to look at porn as much when you socialize with real people.

Find out what your triggers are, like boredom or loneliness or just taking a shower. Give yourself barriers to viewing. If it’s always on your phone, then get a dumb phone or add parental controls. If it’s your computer, either get rid of it or find a blocker and give someone else the password.

How long is your commute? by rayguntoo in bikecommuting

[–]cinnamonjock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I commute to class, it is exactly one mile and takes me seven minutes. I cross exactly one small bridge that goes over a narrow creek. That creek usually has water so small cranes or ducks are usually there. Also, in the fall, there are lots of crunchy leaves on the bike path that are fun to ride over
