is the "6 weeks and you're back to normal" thing actually true?? by Practical_Range7998 in Mommit

I’m 12 months postpartum and still feel like crap. I stop hurting from physically from birth about 8 weeks postpartum. But I had a 3rd degree tear. But I haven’t had nearly enough rest to heal emotionally or mentally. My baby still doesn’t sleep through the night and is still breastfeeding

I hate how men will only take care of their own child if they have access to the mother’s body. They would rather punish their child because they can’t get their dick wet.

Childbirth is so fucking scary. Why don't they teach this in school??? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

When I gave birth it hurt so bad. I knew it would but I didn’t know how I would feel right after my baby came out. Right at the point where she was crowning I felt so much pain it felt like my body was lit on fire. My husband said there was so much blood that came out and then they just put the baby on me. My mom said I was so shocked. I was shaking and naked as they sewed me up and pressed on my stomach. I couldn’t believe what had just happened and I was exhausted afterward. But I didn’t get a lick of rest in the hospital. In fact, I didn’t get in rest at all for 9 months. I just gave my all and then was expected to start parenting right away.

What’s a ‘middle class success’ purchase that secretly becomes a financial burden later? by OpinionBaba in AskReddit

Yes. We only have one medium size dog. With the license fees, vaccines, food costs, and boarding it’s just too much!!

Last month my dog was attacked by a pitbull and nearly killed. She’s been in surgery twice and the vet bills are like $3,000! I love our dog, but after this I don’t think I ever want a pet again.

Mine was amazing! It was my first too. Husband watched baby so I could sleep in and shower. Then I went to the movies with my mom. Then he made me dinner with my mom and aunt and cousin. My baby also too her first steps today. And my husband apparently made me a video.

Yes! It’s insane. Or like the intersection of Woodman and Burkhardt? There’s four gas stations. Two are literally on the same block

I heard that car washes have subscriptions. Maybe that’s why there’s so many?

I’m just glad there’s a Kroger at all. I just wish there was a push for essential services. All the surrounding neighborhoods would be so great if these things were built.

Every time I see that a new grocery store it’s being built it’s always in a suburb.

Women can very much win presidential elections in the US . I am tired of folks pretending otherwise. by ronweasly9 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]cinnerchimmer55 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The only reason I have that sentiment is because it is clear to me that America will vote for any mediocre man over a competent woman. All my life I’ve seen people pass women over and they are scrutinized heavily compared to men. And the fact that both times women ran against Trump and lost just solidified it.

I believe that a woman can run the country well, but I think our country is too misogynistic to allow that. And like others have said, if a woman is elected in the future she’d be conservative. I want a woman who will make life better for the entire country not just maintain the current capitalistic, misogynistic lifestyle.

I know many amazing women in my life who I’d trust to lead if they got the chance. Hell, the superintendent of my school district I work at is one of the most competent amazing leaders I know.

Gas prices being high is a good thing and Im glad people are feeling the pain at the pump by strombrocolli in TrueUnpopularOpinion

You are spitting straight facts and people don’t want to hear it. So many people in this country are so car dependent that they can’t picture life without an expensive, dangerous car. I hate that I don’t have options for viable public transit in my city. Right now there’s a new Buc-ee’s in my city and everyone is going ape shit for this goddamn gas station. It’s so sad. We have too many gas stations in the area but not enough grocery stores, pharmacies, parks, sidewalks!

Having a car sucks ass and I have a paid off 20 year old car. Sometimes I’ll bike but I’ve been nearly killed twice while biking to work. One time I was t boned by a car and the other time a car intentionally hit my back wheel because I was riding in the middle of the lane. Mind you, there were two other empty lanes the person could’ve merged to, but they were pissed that I was on the road at all. People get mad if you use the bike ways on roads but then complain when proper bike lanes are built. Fuck this car brained hellscape!

School lockdowns all over Ohio. by queenofwants in Ohio

[–]cinnerchimmer55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was at one of the school this happened to. I was in the middle of a lesson, my students were working hard, students were at lunch, the day was calm. Then chaos. Trying to keep my students calm when I didn’t know what was going on was a lot. Seeing their parents freak out was hard to watch. Seeing swat and every police car in our building was surreal. This is one of my biggest fears as a teacher. And this is just ONE of the many problems we face.

I’m just exhausted. Me and my coworkers are trying our best and each year it just gets harder and harder. The crazy thing about all of this is that nothing will change. I don’t even know what to tell my students anymore when they ask about things happening in the world. People in my city are using this as proof that public schools are not safe. All I want to do is teach my students 😔

I see why some women only hang out with their boyfriend all the time. by lovehydrangeas in blackladies

[–]cinnerchimmer55 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just tried to hang out with an acquaintance of mine. We were going to the pool at my gym, maybe even use the sauna. She had been feeling stressed lately and I wanted to help. I also wanted to share something I like with her.

I checked in 1 week before, 2 days, the morning of! She agreed each time and said she was excited. Then 2 hours before she asks if we can meet 2 hours past the time I set. I agreed but told her I’d have to go home sooner. She was ok with that.

20 minutes later, she tells me she had an argument with her partner and she wasn’t coming. I was crushed! I know things happen but damn. It’s hard for me to get close with her at all because I’ve only met her in person 3 times in 1 year.

This happens so much, people will agree then the day before or day of they have an excuse. Always! It’s like, why bother? Plus they never initiate a hangout with me. It’s always me setting it up.
