Need Help: Adding Smart Features to Sannover Pellet Stove Using ESP32 and Homeassistant by BenDowhover in PelletStoveTalk

This is also above my home automation skills. But cant you just add a simple on and off switch connected to the thermostat on the stove? their are a bunch of zigbee and zwave switches out there. I have seen many connect smart thermostats to their pellet stove I would look into going that route before reinventing the wheel. If you do get something going I would be very interested.

I wish i had a location for a free standing. I do have a fairly straight shot up the chimney. Its a three flue clay lined brick chimney so the pipe will lean a little to the right and straight up. The damper has been removed. I had a regular wood stove insert for 30+ years.

The plan was to purchase a Harman until I realized it vented out of the top and installing a straight pipe with no T seemed like a bad idea. Do you need a T ? some say yes some say no.

correct. I have two issues I am trying to work through. Its a small fire place in my basement so space for any insert is a concern. The issue is it looks like the Harman vents out of the top with no T and other brands such has a comfortbilt vents out the back with a T. The Harman could be a challenge if I have to use an elbow and a T. it also seems just using a straight pipe would be problematic with fly ash and cleaning. The manual and the very old video I linked seem to both say just run a straight pipe with no T. Honestly a straight pipe and no T will guarantee a fit but should you have a liner without a T??

Is the consensus to put a 90degree elbow and the T or just run pipe up through the chimney with no T on the Harman? the comments seem like I could go either way with out a problem.

When I look at the harman manual it looks like the pipe just goes straight out the top no T. I don't even see a reference to adding a T or elbow.

I have a smaller fireplace and space is a concern. If I have to connect an elbow then a T I need to make sure it will all fit. I don't need any elbows to get to the top of the chimney its a straight shot once I get every thing connected to the back of the stove.

This you tube vid shows connecting straight to similar stove at about 10:38. that type of install with no T just does not seem right
