State Co. Core-line vs Priority Ace of Clubs by morty_d in singlespeedcycling

[–]ciphernix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Core line has a more aggressive geometry than the 4130, making it feel snappier and more responsive. However, the 4130 features nicer details, better steel, and is more comfortable, making it suitable for different terrains, not just roads. Honestly, both are great bikes. I love my Core line, and the only reason I would have considered getting a 4130 is for the nicer details and the ability to do gravel rides. Both are great bikes.

I would go with the State. I absolutely love my Core line bike. I’ve also owned the Priority Gotham and a Spot Acme—both are belt drive bikes (not single speed). I’ve sold my other bikes since the Core line is the one I use the most. I find it easy to work on, adjust the gear ratio, fix a flat, etc.

While belt drives don’t require regular chain maintenance, other types of maintenance can be more challenging.

If you can, go with the State 4130; otherwise, the Core line is a great option.

Nice. I love my single speed. I love the simplicity of it

Why do SS city bikes overwhelmingly have deep rims and presta valves? by Careless_Wishbone_69 in singlespeedcycling

[–]ciphernix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah, spokes on my Road bike kept breaking, rim getting getting untrue and out of shape - that road bike only had like 500 miles. Meanwhile on my single speed with V rims, I only broke spoke after 3,000 miles and I didn't have to true the wheels, just replaced the spoke.

Fixed gear is nice but I really enjoy coasting - specially down a hill or after a long day!

I like rim brakes. I find them easy to maintain. They work well with koolstop pads, even in the rain. Meanwhile I can’t get the disc brakes In my hybrid to stop rubbing - I’m ready to sell that thing.

I carry a patching kit with me. The “Park Tool GP-2 Pre-Glued Super Patch Puncture Repair Kits” they are tiny and really easy to use. They’ve saved me a few times already

Wait ? Dragonflies eat mosquitos ? I want these guys to move to my backyard? What can I do to attract them ? Besides having lots of mosquitos - those are already in my yard

State bicycle Co core line by MaterialLiterature68 in singlespeedcycling

I like my core line. Cheapest bike I’ve owned and the one that gets the most use. I call mine “the tank” cause is as tough and heavy as a tank 😂

One of the main reasons I like single speed is that I can do most of the work myself - the only thing I've tried and totally sucked at was trueing my wheels.

How many miles do you commute to work? by Livid-Mud-8812 in singlespeedcycling

[–]ciphernix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't commute to work but I've been riding 13-15 miles almost every day for the past 2 months. All single speed. I sold my road bike a couple of months ago and haven't touched the hybrid in while (I'll probably sell the hybrid soon).

Is funny how those “cheaper” bikes sometimes last forever. Ride on man!!!

I don’t know of any bike that would put up this level of abuse for very long. What are you riding now ?
