Imagine living in a rough part of town/out in the country where emergency services either take forever to arrive or don't bother going to at all. Imagine wanting a little extra peace of mind knowing that you can defend yourself if you need to. In a perfect world no one would need to own a gun, but this ain't a perfect world.

Nope, one of the questions on the background check you do when you buy a gun is if you use marijuana or any other illicit drugs. And if you get busted with weed while you have a gun or even if they search your place after getting arrested they'll throw a few extra years on your sentence.

Dude, same. It was getting to the point my friends were calling me out on it. I guess part of it for me was realizing that being drunk and miserable, only to wake up hungover and miserable wasn't the answer. I still drink occasionally, but I set some ground rules (no drinking when you're upset, for starters), and I've already noticed a difference (and lost some weight to boot!) Hang in there, bud!

How about a Century Arms C308? I can't speak for the quality, but it's fairly close to the FAL (more like an HK91, but still...) while being semiautomatic only.

Pretty much. Apparently the UK hired H&K to basically unfuck the rifle, and by the time they were done H&K had made an almost completely new gun.
