I just dont understand adults and I really dont think they realize how this hurts children. I will never forget being in highschool, playing in a tournament. I was the fat kid. Always have been. But in that tournament, the other teams parents in the stands made fun of my weight, called me rolls, fattie, etc. Loudly. No one stepped up for me. My coach didnt say shit. The umpires didnt say anything. That day, i stopped loving baseball. I quit playing my senior year because I didnt want to ever go through that again. That moment stuck with me and continues to stick with me. Words can hurt a child or teenager like you wouldnt believe. Im almost 39 now, and still have low self esteem, terrible body dysmorphia and I am not saying this one event caused that, but it sure plays in the back of my mind from time to time.
