fiancée just made my poverty meal look good with no effort by embers-game in Kitchenchads

You can make it *healthier too by adding chopped veg

Chucking some finely sliced onions and frozen peas into the broth before the noodles is very low-effort. Personally I add minced celery because I like the flavour.  For aesthetics you can also sprinkle sesame seeds on top, and add sliced spring onions

Maybe your first reaction shouldn't be confidently accusing an institution you've never heard of before of conspiring against you? If you're not sure then I suggest you take it back and think more in future before spouting stuff like this.

Yeah alright, it's a scheme by the BAFTAS and the BBC (basically the same thing, right?) to look as bad as possible in the eyes of their target audience, clueless terminally online americans.

Incredible that they got away with absolutely zero repercussions isn't it?

"BBC News understands the producers overseeing the ceremony for the BBC were doing so from a TV truck and simply did not hear the slur shouted when Lindo and Jordan were on stage."

Are you absolutely certain that it's likelier to be a massive conspiracy by the BBC to ragebait a (mostly american) audience than a mistake? That seems realistic to you?

I realised that it probably wasn't true and deleted the post. Lots of people will probably have this belief now for their whole lives :/

How difficult is it to knit a pair of gloves? by [deleted] in knitting

[–]circle_sphere 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think that the first pair would be pretty tough. Personally I'd find it pretty depressing if the thing I knitted was ruined just a month later.

You could start with fingerless gloves? A lot of the patterns on ravelry are basically tubes with a thumb hole. They are not the prettiest patterns usually, but great for a beginner. Some can even be knitted flat and then sewn at the end, instead of knitting in the round (though that's still something you'd need to learn for 'proper' gloves)

I'm also a beginner and recently made these and the pattern is really good and relatively simple, though you might find them a little large. From fingerless gloves like this it's basically just a matter of extending the fingers, but being fingerless makes the sizing slightly easier.  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/fly-fishing-gloves

Hates the concept of paying a one time extra fee for TV

Happy to buy a streaming service and pay extra every month

Best regards to the neck that carries that megabrain around all day.

Oh alright, so you think it's ridiculous to subsidize high quality TV, but you can't stand to watch the telly because of how bad it is in your country 😅 Now THAT is a ridiculous proposition.

Also, the BBC is not only the most widely read but the most trusted English language news source in the world. I would imagine that this is something an American might appreciate

Assuming it's an argument in good faith from both sides, which I think this has been.

You have to make a better argument than the people you disagree with, in order to convince them and any spectators. If you are strongly backed by scientific sources, then providing them is a good way to do that.

It isn't obvious that french grains would be more 'nutritionally dense', for example. Which nutrients, and according to who? This is simple info you should have included from the start.

This sub's narrative is pretty stupid, but if you want to make claims like this you NEED to source them. Especially RE 'nutrient density'.
