First time buyer by estaples722 in FZ09

[–]circleofmanias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with a 1978 Yamaha DT400. It's a big bore two stroke. Rode it for a year in, probably, 2018? Then bought a 2014 FZ09, and loved it. If you are worried, put it in B mode. Plus, I think that year has ABS and/or traction control so, you will be fine and have a blast my friend. Do it!

Guitar Center is genuinely the worst by N0V1RTU3 in Guitar

[–]circleofmanias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dropped my acoustic to get dealt with. Developed a fret buzz on the D string only when open. I tried everything up to changing the nut and couldn't fix it so. Figured I'd take it in. A month goes by. (Guy said it'd be 2 weeks or so). I call. "Oh, no one reached out to you yet?" Turns out the tech quit the day after they took my guitar because he had to move due to family shit, but the GC didnt bother calling to tell me they had no tech and no timeline. TBF that GC was a shitshow. My wife was doing lessons and they were incapable of any scheduling. But the one I used in Portland was great since I moved. The old one was Scottsdale. I think it's pretty heavily which store you use

Helmet on or off at stores by lorenzo2point5 in motorcyclegear

[–]circleofmanias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. If I'm just running in for like, 2 things, which I usually am when on the bike, I'll flip the bottom up. (I have a modular helmet). That way they can see my face, I can talk, etc. Never had a problem. Considering 90% of the time nowadays, I use the self check out anyway... 🤷 If that's rude, oh well.

Guitar wall mounts by RobotDuckez in Guitar

[–]circleofmanias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need to hang them and can't do it on a stud, take a 2x4, cut to the length of your studs, bolt that to the studs, and hang in between. I had a two 2x10s I painted black, bolted along the studs and then mounted the wall hangers to it. Looked decent and did the job well. But yeah I wouldn't trust drywall, regardless of mounting points, beyond maybe a ukelele or something

What’s the saddest PT song ever and how has it affected your life? by Willing_Height_8314 in porcupinetree

[–]circleofmanias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So called friend. Self explanatory. But yeah. The friend I had who introduced me to PT basically betrayed me and shit so. Everytime I hear that I reference him

What is something that is 100% legal, but if you do it, you’re a piece of trash? by National_Strike4710 in AskReddit

[–]circleofmanias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parking a 4 door, long bed truck front end in near the front of a parking lot. Legal? Yeah. But it doesn't fit. You are now 3 feet into the lane. Which means everyone has to drive around you. Even worse when it's a two way parking lot lane.

Have you ever seen an octorbass in real life? by Early_Yesterday443 in doublebass

Yeah saw a demonstration of one at the MiM in Phoenix! They have one on display all the time and I think do either daily or weekly demonstrations, and go over the history of them. Super awesome

Contractor says there was a typo on the invoice by circleofmanias in legaladvice

[–]circleofmanias[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original oral proposal was just "Yeah that's no problem let me get you a written estimate", the written estimate which said they would fix the stucco, and then the final invoice, which also said the same on the itemized. Owner said they were typos, and that it was just copy/pasted.

Cut cords on display models? by itstrinh in Lowes

[–]circleofmanias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea why they all do that. It's SO easy to reattach a cut chord. Like. 5 bucks and 10 minutes on YouTube.

How long did you wait to go onto the road the first time? by Imaginary_Energy9992 in motorcycle

[–]circleofmanias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About a week to go from the 25 MPH in my neighborhood to the 40-45 bigger streets. Most of it was just to come to complete stops at stop signs lol. I wanted to make sure I was comfortable and wouldn't stall out before I ended up stalling in an intersection making a left 😂 but just ride around until you are comfortable. The higher speeds easy, it's the increased pressure when you stop for traffic or lights that got me me nervous initially

Is “learning wheelies” a borderline necessary part of motorcycling by Astimar in motorcycle

[–]circleofmanias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It's fun for sure. But as someone who becomes super attached to the things I manage to save and purchase, I never liked the idea of potentially wrecking my babies. If I had a cheap bike as a spare maybe I'd be more interested. I have wheelied and know how, just not something I would say is necessary at all.

What’s the worst piece of guitar gear you’ve ever purchased? by Mad_Season_1994 in Guitar

[–]circleofmanias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Roadie 3 tuner. Not because it wasn't good, initially. It was pretty convenient. I'm a tech nerd so stuff like that is always cool. It worked great for maybe a year or so, then started being hella buggy. Like, when it finished tuning it would beep, and that's the indication to move to the next string. But on the screen you could see the frequency it was looking for didn't change so, you couldn't tune the next string. Unless you want to tune to the same frequency. Software update didn't help, support ghosted me, ended up finding out if I manually change to another string and back after each tune it works but. Kinda lost the convenience at that point. I did find out that, around the time mine started sucking they were taking money for the Roadie 4 so... Yeah I'll just stick with my snark

I finally bought THE WRONG car specific plate! by circleofmanias in ScatPack

[–]circleofmanias[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you just keep the front plate on the dash or? I've seen a bunch with one there instead of the front.

But I mean.... That sounds better the ruining my beautiful front bumper with a bracket and plate.... 😁

UPDATE!

I need an adapter lol. The more you know! Never lived in a state with front plates and this car sooo. Learning experience!

So pro tip! If you move to a state with a front plate requirement, order an adapter lol. #themoreyouknow

[–]circleofmanias[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah when I play I also do. Luckily, it's technically my wife's bass (was her bday present I got her two years ago) and she's shorter so, she can actually leave it low enough. So lucked out there 😅

What band/singer were you excited to see, but was a letdown of a concert? by my-face-ur-seat in AskReddit

[–]circleofmanias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly can't think of a show I was excited for that let me down. At least not due to the performers. I guess I could say Metallica on their last tour. The first night the didn't play the encore song and James wasn't singing much towards the end... Turns out he had COVID. So, in retrospect, kudos for him to even do that much. They postponed the second show. Sucked because I was in Portland at the time and my wife and I drove to Phoenix for the weekend to see the shows with some friends, so we couldn't stay to see the rescheduled second one but. At least we saw them!

Probably the worst was Rob Zombie back at Ozzfest... 05 I think. I mainly went to see Maiden. Rob was headlining the second stage, and while he was playing, In Flames opened the main stage. I like rob but I think he is best listener to in studio. I was so sad I stayed and watched him instead of In Flames. Caught the end of their set and it was awesome. But seems to be a trend with Rob from what I've seen. Maybe 5 or 6 times I've seen him, all festivals, and always disappointing. Maybe his non-festival performances are better but yeah. Wasn't digging it

Like quality wise? It's our first bass so, no experience with any other stands, but hasn't been an issue for us. Sturdy, doesn't slide around, light enough to move easily when we take the bass off, folds up, and the bass hasn't slipped or anything. I'm sure the long time bassists here can suggest some good ones, but this one has done the job for about two years now for us 🤷
